The journey to Jason's house took just a few minutes, all of them in silence.

Anna sat on the edge of the seat, looking out of the window.  She was completely still, clutching her bag as the buildings outside slipped in front of her eyes. It was almost as if she weren't seeing them, seeing anything.  She was in shock.

Just half an hour ago she'd been at a party with her husband who she loved dearly.  They'd been so happy.  They'd seemed to have reached a better understanding of each other at last.  Then she'd seen and heard about his fling with Nina.  She'd heard the expression people used about their world crashing down on them and now she knew how it felt.  She looked at her arms almost expecting to see the hurt she was feeling inside.  It felt so bad she thought that it would show physically.

The taxi drew up outside the house Jason had bought recently.  He leaned over and paid the driver, before opening the door and helping Anna out.

He lead the way into his home, going to the living room to pour a drink for them both.  He could tell that she was in a state of shock.  He poured out two drinks, water for him and brandy for her.  As he turned around he realised that he was on his own in the room.

He went back out to the hallway.  Anna stood there not moving her face expressionless, tears running down her cheeks.

"Anna" he said softly, going to her and wrapping his arms around her.

She slumped against him.  Sobbing as if her heart was broken.  He held her tighter, a lump forming in his own throat at the sight of her pain.

"Why Jay?  Why does he do it?  Does he think that he can get away with it all the time?" she asked him through her tears.  "Am I not enough for him?"

"I don't know why he does it love, I really don't," he told her.  "It's part of him I suppose, what makes him him.  He's always sorry afterwards.  He just can't help it."

"He promised me faithfully that kind of thing was over.  We talked before we got married and he said it would never happen again.  He promised me Jay," she cried softly.  "And he's done it again.  Even when I said it would be all over if it did happen again.  And he still did it.  Why?"

"You need to talk to him tomorrow?  See what he has to say," Jason suggested to her.

"I can't Jason, I just can't.  The more I think the more angry I feel.  And he always seems to talk me around somehow."

Jason led her into the living room and sat her down on the sofa, offering her the glass of brandy.  She drank it, shuddering as the fiery liquid coated her throat.

"But you're going to have to talk to him sometime," Jason pointed out.  "I mean there's Maisie to consider isn't there.  He'll want to see her."

"Oh my God, Maisie!  I'll have to phone Amy, the nanny and tell her that I won't be home tonight.  She was staying overnight anyway.  I'll have to ring her now and explain to her."

She fished her phone out of her bag and ignoring the missed calls from Howard, rang the house.  Anna explained things to her and told her that Chloe would be along in the morning to take over from her.  Telling her that she would be in touch in the morning she rang off.  She looked at the missed calls, four from Howard. Her phone started to ring with another call from him.  She turned it off.

"I told him not to bother ringing. It doesn't matter what I say, he'll go ahead and do it anyway."

"Maybe he wants to talk to you, try and explain," Jason suggested to her.
