Chapter 2
Anna looked at herself in the mirror, pleased with her reflection. Her hair shone in the light and the dress was perfect. The colour was a mix of greens, bringing out the colour of her eyes. The neck was cut low enough to show off her breasts, the back going lower. She'd been to the beauty salon at the hotel with Chris that day while the band had been at the rehearsals for the tour they were due to start in a few weeks time. She felt a million dollars and looked it.
Her attention was caught by her ring sparkling in the light as she moved her hand to her face. Once again she stopped and gazed at it, a huge smile on her face. It was official now she was wearing it. She and Howard were engaged. Tears of happiness sprang to her eyes as the incredible thought that she would soon be Mrs Howard Donald ran through her mind yet again. She still couldn't get used to it. It seemed unbelievable that it was happening to her.
She thought back to when she had first met him. She'd been on a night out with her friend Chris to a club and he'd been the guest DJ there. At first she hadn't recognised him. He'd looked different to when he'd been in the group.
At the end of the night, he'd come out of the booth and she and Chris had asked him for a photo and his autograph. He'd happily obliged them and they'd had a chat with him for about ten minutes before he'd had to leave.
She'd gone to sleep that night thinking about his smile and his beautiful blue eyes, to say nothing about his toned, fit body.
A few weeks later she and Chris had been on holiday in Ibiza and found that he was appearing at a club they'd been to a few times. Amazingly he'd remembered them from the club in Manchester. They'd had a few drinks with him once he'd finished playing his set. They'd talked until the sun came up, Chris having fallen asleep hours ago. Once they'd got back home to England, he'd kept his promise about keeping in touch and gradually over the next few weeks they'd seen more and more of each other.
That was over five years ago. There had been problems on the way, and they'd broken up a couple of times. Even though they'd parted, he'd always come back to her. Now he told her that he'd finally had had enough of playing around and wanted to settle down with her and their daughter Maisie.
The baby had been a bit of a surprise for both of them. They'd always known that a family was a possibility for them but once the initial shock had worn off, they'd both looked forward to the birth.
As soon as he held Maisie, he'd fallen in love with their daughter. She'd looked so tiny cradled in his arms. Anna thought that she'd never seen a more beautiful sight as the two of them together. Maisie was proving to be a happy, smiley baby. Her hair was so dark, with a blue sheen to it. Her eyes the perfect match of her Dad's. She already had two teeth poking through and looked so cute when she flashed her ready smile. Anna sighed contentedly. She never thought she could be so happy.
A knock at the door disturbed her, making her jump and bringing her out of her daydream.
"Are you ready in there yet," called Howard. "The party's going to be over before we even get there. Get a move on!"
"Ok, I'm ready," she answered him, giving herself a final squirt of her favourite perfume and smoothing her dress down in front of her. Taking a deep breath, she turned the handle of the door and stepped out into the living area of their hotel room.
Howard was stood by the window, looking out. He looked amazing. His hair had been cut the day before making it tidier, but still not too short. He had a close fitting cream shirt on and tight black pants, both garments emphasising the hard contours of his body. She felt her breath catch in her throat as she looked at him.
