The banqueting room was gorgeous, decorated with balloons and flowers.  A huge banner over one side read, 'Congratulations Howard and Anna on your engagement.'  Underneath the banner, food was being set out ready for later in the evening.  A large cake was the centrepiece, the lettering on it reading the same as the banner above.

There already were lots of people there.  The rest of the guys for a start and Chris, Anna's friend.  Their families and friends from home had also come along.  Of course people from the soon to start tour had also been invited.  The dancers and make up artists, the designers and technicians, anyone who was at all connected in any way, was there.

At the far side of the room along with a group of dancers, sat Sophie.  She had already had a lot to drink and was sat alternately giggling and scowling.  None of her friends knew why she was in such a foul mood that night.  They'd all been looking forward to the celebration.  Many of them had got to know Anna over the last couple of years since the band had reformed and considered her to be a friend.  One or two even had a secret crush on her husband to be.

As Anna and Howard entered the room, Sophie's mood worsened.  She hadn't been able to forget the previous afternoon.  Earlier that day at work, Howard had acted like nothing had happened.  He was just the same as he always was with her.  Friendly, wanting to work hard and have a laugh.  She couldn't believe that he could be like that after they'd slept together just 24 hours before.

The music got louder as more and more people got up to dance.  Sophie joined in but watched him like a hawk.  She wouldn't and couldn't believe him when he'd said that it was just a one off with her.  She hadn't managed to catch him alone that day to talk to him.  But she was determined to do so that night.

The food soon disappeared half way through the evening,  then Howard and Anna cut their cake.

"Feels like a practice for our wedding day doing this," laughed Howard as together they sliced through it.

"Hope it's a bit harder than this on the day," Anna replied.

"You talking about the cake or something else then?" smirked Howard.

"Oi you, don't be so rude!" she laughed at him

"You didn't complain about me being rude earlier on hun!" he teased her, leaning in close to her, his warmth breath on her neck, and laughed as she blushed.

Once again the dancing started and Howard and Anna made their way around the room speaking to as many people as they could.  Anna made her way over to the  table to chat to the girls.  They all wanted to see her ring and oohed and aahhed over it as she proudly showed it to them.

Sophie looked around to see where Howard was.  She spotted him leaving the room to go out side into a garden area for a cigarette.  No one was with him.  This was her chance to talk to him.  Excusing herself from the table she got up and made her way over.

In the opposite corner of the room, Jason caught sight of her leaving and groaned inwardly to himself.

'Surely he's not that stupid,' he thought to himself.  He had noticed that Sophie had taken a liking to Howard and strongly suspected that there was something going on between the pair of them.  Especially after yesterday afternoon and the phantom meeting.  He hoped that he wasn't going to do anything to jeopardise his engagement to Anna.  She didn't deserve that.  Come to think of it, Howard didn't deserve a beautiful woman like her.  She was crazy about him.  Even though he had pulled some daft stunts in the past and they had split up a couple of times, she still loved him.  You could see it in her eyes whenever he walked into the room.  It seemed that she would forgive him no matter what he'd done.
