The next day was just as she had planned it.  She was awake early after another night of fitful dreams.  Chloe was soon up and about, helping with Maisie and the two of them took her over to the surgery late morning.

Anna hated having to hold Maisie on her knee, watching her daughter having the needle stuck into her, her bottom lip sticking out as she started to cry as the pain hit her.  She gathered her in her arms and comforted her as the doctor explained to her that she may become a bit cranky and warm as a result of the injection.

"Just give her some calpol to help if she seems unsettled," she told her, "and if you're at all worried, don't hesitate to get in touch with us."

They thanked her and left the surgery, taking Maisie back to feed her and to let her have a nap.  Soon it was time to leave for the hotel.  Anna was surprised at how nervous she felt as they got into Chloe's car.

Howard had sent several texts during the day asking about Maisie.  They'd arranged for Anna and Maisie to go to his room to see him there. They parked in the underground car park and took the lift up to the lobby. There were lots of people already assembled with luggage for the trip.  Some of the dancers were sitting together in a corner, laughing and joking.  One or two came over to look at Maisie and make a fuss of her.  Anna excused herself as she noticed Sophie enter the lobby.  She left Maisie with Chloe and made her way over to her.

Sophie didn't see her until Anna gripped hold of her arm and pushed her into a small reading room off the large hallway.  Taking a quick look around as she went inside, Anna closed the door so that they wouldn't be overheard.

"Let go of my arm," demanded Sophie as she tried to prise herself out of Anna's grasp.  She pulled herself free as Anna let go of her, standing and rubbing where she had held her.

"What's the idea?" she demanded.  "What do you think you're doing?"

"I wanted to have a word with you in private," said Anna.  "I didn't think that you'd want other people to hear what I have to say to you."

"I don't know what you think you've got to say to me, but I'm sure it can't be all that important," Sophie replied, looking Anna up and down.

"It's important to me when some little slapper thinks she can sleep with my bloke and get away with it," Anna told her quietly, her voice low.

"Don't know what you're talking about" Sophie said defensively.  "I'm meant to be meeting my friends now, they'll be wondering where I am." She walked towards Anna who moved in front of the door, her arms folded across her chest.

"You'll leave when I've finished what I've got to say," she told her firmly.  "I know what happened the day before our engagement and at the party itself.  How Jason got you into a taxi and you went home because you were upset with Howard.  You'd slept with him the day before and when he refused to carry on with you, you started threatening him with telling me all about it."

Sophie shifted uncomfortably, glancing around the room looking for another way out.

"Don't even think about trying to run away from me.  I'll just follow you wherever you go and carry on talking.  LOUDLY.  Do you know how loud I can be when I want to?"  Anna said raising her voice.

Behind them in the centre of the room, a figure was roused from his sleep in one of the large comfy chairs he had settled himself in to have a read of the paper ten minutes ago.  The chairs were so large, he was well hidden by it.  Hearing raised voices he recognised, he decided to stay where he was, it would cause least embarrassment.

Both women were unaware of his presence and stood glaring at each other.

"So, are we going to sort this out or not?" asked Anna coldly, still standing blocking Sophie's way out of the room.
