3rd person POV

One months ago...

Bronte sat halfway up the stairs as the room was filled with noise. School had started two weeks ago so the family, and friends that were named as family had all gathered around the Beale-Mitchell's house. Bronte who wasn't the one who normally would be the centre of attention. People would come up and ask about the running and that would be it. It's like people didn't know what to say to her. Bronte wasn't the most sociable, so it wasn't too bad the lack of conversation. However, it made the whole thing incredibly boring and always asked why she had to be there. There was one person who she was waiting for. Who was also normally late to these kinds of things.

The doorbell rang and Bronte's grandma Mima went to open the door. Bronte peeked around to look through the doorway only to see it was. Not who she was expecting. Auntie Aubrey entered the house followed by her wife Stacie and lastly their son Mason who was carrying some kind of food to add to the stacks that were already there, and then their daughter, Taylor trailing behind closing the door once they were all inside.

"Hey Bronte!" Auntie Stacie said as she walked through the door. Chloe ran through the house and embraced Stacie. Back in College they were best friends and every time they met they would do this same hug as if they hadn't seen each other in years.

"Bronte get down the stairs and say hello to your aunts." Chloe calls seeing Bronte just staring at them.

"Don't be rude." Chloe whispers in Bronte's ear. Bronte goes over for a hug everyone saying the short hi's and how are you's?, before stepping next to Chloe.

"How's school going? High school's a big jump!" Aubrey asks.

"Okay not that bad." Bronte nods smiling awkwardly knowing that school wasn't her favourite thing to talk about.

"Heard you made the varsity track that's amazing for freshmen." Stacie said.

"Yeah, faster than everyone on the team as well I heard." Mason said, adding to Bronte's smile. Sensing the sudden awkwardness Bronte decided to let everyone go.

"The twins are downstairs and the boys are outside." Bronte states and looks at the floor as the kids run off, to their separate ways. Stacie tilts her head in the direction Bronte noticing the obvious awkwardness, and raising her eyebrows. Stacie pushes Aubrey gently forward to leave mother and daughter alone.

"We will catch you up in a second." Stacie calls over her shoulder. Bronte walks away going back to her spot.

"Bronte stop! Go and join the party. Stop just sitting up here. And it was rude cutting off your Aunts like that. They were just trying to talk to you!" Chloe said, stopping Bronte from walking away.

"I wasn't rude, they weren't here to talk to me. They wanted to go to the others, I just let them go." Bronte snapped.

"You want to tone down the attitude a little, miss. They wanted to know how school was." Chloe said walking closer so not to draw attention with the whole family.

"I've already said the same thing to everyone walking in. It's the same shit they ask me every time. How's school? Well done for running. Every single time. There isn't anything else they want to say!" Bronte raised her voice. Luckily not gaining much attention from family members as the noise was so loud already.

"You don't speak to me like that! And you definitely DO NOT swear at me. You are definitely grounded after that. And we will talk about this later. That is your family and you are not making yourself very approachable. Now go and talk to people and socialise with others." Chloe said pointing to the group.
