Beca POV
Everything had changed since this morning. Nothing was the same and it couldn't been again. Cody, Chloe and I had been stood waiting at the front of the school for what feels like forever and to know help. They said they cleared the building and no children where left inside. They said that the only people that had died so far where some of the teachers who tried to stop the gun man and sadly were killed. They said children had been taken to hospital but no one was dead. They said that none of my girls had come out uninjured. All of them must have gone to the hospital. They said there was only a few cases that was really serious. They said mainly just cuts and broken limbs. I can deal with cuts and broken bones. They said it was an ordinary day. And now I am on my way to the hospital with a hysterical wife who can't stop crying and my son who is trying to be brave and comfort my wife. And I'm...
I can't brake down when everyone around me is but I can't breathe.
We get to the hospital and are directed to a room where all the parents were talking and trying to get answers. A doctor stands on a table and the room falls silent.
"I am Dr Webber. I am head of this hospital and I know you all want answers but we will try to get you to your children as quickly as possible. We have a list of children which is he majority that were brought in have just suffered from broken bones and cuts which have now all been stitched up and all of you can take your kids home once you sign the release papers. Please follow quickly the nurse to your children so we can talk to the parents of the children who were brought in with more serve cases."
He started the list of names as I listened and listened praying for our children.
"Brynlee Beale-Mitchell" A sigh of relief that one child is safe. One of ours. Then the relief was over as it was only one. It was meant to be three. It was one. A look at Chloe to say you go. She needed good news. She needed to know one of her babies where okay. She needed to go. She nodded and followed the nurse. Cody stayed with me. I told him to go but he stayed with me. He grabbed my hand and I looked at him and smiled. He knew that this is going to be bad and that I needed the support. Chloe would be a mess either way but less with just a broken arm.
I walked forward to Dr Webber, who had now stepped down and stood on the floor, with another family stood next to us. They looked worse than Chloe. The man and women looked dreadful but I didn't fully know who they but then again I couldn't focus on anything if I tried.
The Doctor started by telling them about their son. Who had a kidney failure and would need I transplant. I could deal with a Kidney transplant, Chloe could deal with a kidney transplant. They left with a doctor. It was just us with the doctor.
"Mrs Beale- Mitchell I presume?"
"Yes, and this is my son my wife went to see our other daughter."
"Okay do you want me to wait?" I shake my head, Chloe can't handle this yet.
"Well Cecelia was brought in unconscious before she was suffering with chest pains. She was brought in with Brynlee. She is in surgery on her heart she had an heart attack and there has been problems with the surgery." I took a deep breath before he continued.
"It should all be okay, however there was a a rupture and means that Cecelia now has high blood pressure. And we will have to keep her in the hospital a while to check that everything under control and that it won't lead to a possible heart failure, so we need to keep her here." The doctor finished and wrapped my arms around my body to try and keep it together.
"And Bronte?" I ask, trying to breath evenly.
"Who?"
"Our other daughter Bronte. Her name wasn't mentioned at the school and her name wasn't just called. I assumed that you knew. Was no one else brought in?" I begin to panic maybe she was still at school. What if she is...
"Another girl was brought in. Small, brown hair. But her injuries where extensive and she wasn't conscious at the site and no one was with her she was in the toilet with the explosion. She is in pretty bad shape. You can see her when she is out of surgery but she is the only one that was brought in and we haven't heard of anyone else looking for her. I do have to warn you. She is in the worst shape out of the casualties that were brought in. We are trying everything to save her but she has lost a lot of blood. She is fighting though."
"If she's a fighter, than that's our Bronte." I couldn't hold in the tears in anymore. I wanted to know more but they couldn't give anymore at the precise moment but they said they were doing the best they can. Now I had to tell Chloe. "Thank you Doctor Webber, I guess we know just have to... wait."
"I will show you to your wife and other daughter. Then I will get someone to take you to the waiting room where we will keep you posted." Dr Webber took us down to Chloe, where I explained to her everything that had happened and saw Brynlee who had a shoulder dislocation, a broken elbow, ulna and wrist and was covered in castes up. And now Chloe and I were in the waiting room crying and comforting our children who were with us and hoping that the others were okay.
