"Hello, ma'am, I take it you are the lady with the gorgeous voice?" I spoke, to the portrait of an opera singer who guarded the gryffindor room.

"Oh- you flatter me!"

"No, ma'am, it's true! You know, I myself have quite the affinity for opera, and you simply have an angelic sound! You should really talk to Hermione Granger about it- do you know her?"

"Yes, yes of course!"

Draco smirked in amusement.

"Well she's quite the reader you know, she's read through all the classic operas— she's actually who I'm visiting! Do you mind letting me quickly grab her copy of "Classic 18th Century Operas"? I'm so curious."

"Of course! Come on in!"

Draco and I walked into the gryffindor common room, and I knocked on Hermione's door. She opened it, half asleep still.

"Hey, here's that protection charm. Do not touch it with your bare hands, Harry is the only one who can."

"Okay, will do. Thank you so much." She looked and waved at Draco, who nodded in response.

"We'll see you at breakfast?" I asked.

"Ehh, not sure. I was up late last night reading about dementors."

"Well, if you decide to come down, we should be there."

Draco and I made our way to the dining hall, where we were some of the first students. I sat down at our usual breakfast table, and he followed suit.

"So... this girl. Tell me about her."

"Y/N... maybe not right now..."

He seemed bothered, "Oh, I'm sorry... I didn't know it was a touchy subject."

"No, no, its just that I was actually planing on telling her how I feel, and I just think she should be the first to know. Plus, a grand gesture or two seems appropriate."

"Ahh... I knew you were a romantic. Oh, one sec, I'm gonna go ask the kitchen for some tea. Would you like any?"

"Sure, green please." He smiled at me.

When I got back, I smiled to see Draco and Gus talking. "Gus! Hey!"

"Ahh! Hath my eyes land upon thy angelic features? Nay, tis an angel itself."

"Oh, I see you read Hamlet."

"I did, it was very good. I appreciated that your copy has a simplified version. But honestly, I think it's time we add to your collection... Hogsmeade, this weekend?"

"Sure, just us?"

"Well, Draco is invited to join us."

I smiled at Draco, "Interested?"

He sighed, "My father is coming to the school this weekend, I have to stay to attend to him."

"Well then, Y/N, it seems we'll be alone. Will thy lady protest? Or simply take acceptance to the proposal of a possible date?"

I took a step back, "Date?"

He shrugged, "Not really. It's just," he smiled, "Date-like. Let me take you out for a day, set the bar for whoever is going to date you. I don't want you stuck with someone like Simon Hills."

"To clarify... is this a romantic thing, or...?"

"No, no, not at all... but I do know of someone who is considering asking you out, and I just wanna make sure that person knows where the bar is."
