Chapter Twenty-Six

Hayden's POV:

I look at Cameron, who's talking to Nash. My handprint still lies on his face. Nate's talking to Sammy and I'm just blaring music. My eyes are shut as I block out the idiots sitting by me. I'm sprawled across the couch with my head now facing the ceiling.

There's a tap on my shoulder and I look at Nate. I sit up and pull my earbuds from my ears, shutting off the music. Nate takes my wrist and we go sit outside. The cool autumn breeze hits my back and caused my hair to be in a small whirlwind. Once I control my hair, Nate pulls me to his chest and pushes the swing.

Cameron looks at me through the glass and looks away quickly.

"I've missed you," Nate whispers intertwining our fingers.

I couldn't say the same. I just lay against him. The sun began to slowly set against the horizon.

"Hayden?"

"Yeah, Nate?"

"You feel forced into this don't you?"

"Yeah."

He pulled me off of him. Nate knew I didn't feel the same. After all, I kept falling for him and then getting broken.

"Then you don't have to do this."

"Nate."

"We can still be friends, but I know you don't trust me. Be with cameron. I'll stop doing this," he whispers and kisses my cheek.

I watch as Nate leaves. He slips past cameron. My eyes lower. It doesn't hurt that he left me, but it hurt that he knew I was faking feelings. I stand and walk inside. Cameron comes to my side and intertwines our fingers.

"You wanna go upstairs?"

I nod as he leads me to my room. Sam not even caring. Cameron shuts my door and gently pushes me against it. His brown eyes stare down at me. Everything I wanted was with him.

"Nate will be okay, Hayden. He won't hate you."

"I know," I sigh, "But I feel like I've betrayed him."

Before I can speak again, Cameron kisses me softly. His hands rest on my hips. No matter how hard this was, losing my best friend, I knew Cameron would love me.
