Chapter Twelve

Hayden's POV:

"I-I didn't want him to quit", I whisper to Jack as we sit in a separate room for practice.

"He told me he qui-"

I look over at where Jack is. Nate walks through the door. He faces me and I see the pain. I stand and walk to him. Placing my hand on his shoulder, but he moves away from my touch.

"Leave me alone, Hayden."

"Nate-"

"You're dating my best friend, Hayden. I know why you are, because I hurt you. But I've tried."

"Nate, I still want you."

"What?"

"Nate, I still love you. Jack and I- I don't even know what we are."

Jack walks over.

"We weren't even really together. She's my best friend, Nate."

He looks at me and I smile. But our attention turned to the front of the room, and Jack and Jack performed one of their own songs. I recite mine.

"Alright everyone! We will be going starting with Amanda and work our way to the theater that way."

I sigh and follow Jack out of the room. We make our way on stage and before I know it it's the Jack's turn to have their solo.

Everyone claps, as we stand still as they make their way back. Nate introduces me onto the stage.

The auditorium is silent before people start clapping. I smile and make my way back. It concludes our concert. We all bow and make our way off the stage. Everyone smiles at me. School ends next week, and I'll no longer be in Highschool. Suddenly I'm picked up and off the ground. All I see is Nate laughing, and carrying me back to the room.
