Keana's POV

I should have known better than to trust the poisonous human into doing what was right. Her inability to reason will cause the downfall of her race. If I had such thing as a beating heart it would have surely stopped. The look on Rhea's face was unreadable. That to me was unnerving. The oldest sister looked at me with a hint of daring eyes that almost made me lose my grip.

"I trust my wife." Was all my sister spoke, but I knew she was second guessing her words. Eva just smirked. "Keana, you have met Nadia, in fact you knew for months now and you never spoke of it to anyone but Eden." Rhea turned to look at me. The gold in her eyes coming alive with the wrath of a million suns. I swallowed my pride as I spoke my next words. "Yes, Nadia has been nothing but a nuisance which I have tried to get out of the palace. The only reason why I did not speak of it was because I did not know what your reaction to such knowledge would cause and at the end of the day we do not want Eden to suffer."

"I shall see how this encounter plays out. Your presence shall be required again shortly, for now you are dismissed, Eva." She just nodded and walked away triumphant. "Rhea, I found out about Nadia the day of the battle. I wanted to act immediately, but under circumstances we know, that was impossible."

"She has been here all along under my very nose and for once in a millennia I was naive."

"Eden made her decision Rhea and it was you."

"It was only me because she had no other choice..."

And for once in six centuries I watched Rhea become hopeless and insecure...

Eden's POV

I decided to train as my wife attended matters of this never ending war. My muscles ached as sweat dripped down my back and arms. The sword in my hand becoming heavy, but it is forbidden to drop your life tool, unless injury occurs. From the corner of my eye I saw Nadia. She was just observing from afar with a deep frown. As I lost my focus the shield man I was fighting against swung his sword and cut into my arm. A gush of warm blood quickly spilling from my arm. I hissed as I held onto it to put pressure.

"I am so sorry my lady, I did not mean to cause you any harm." He looked at me with eyes filled with worry. "It is fine. These things happen, thanks for your time Eliezer, we will continue tomorrow." He bowed his head and quickly went away. I walked towards Nadia, still holding onto my bloodied arm. "You are not supposed to be here."

"I know, I just came to say my goodbyes. Keana has given me an ultimatum and quite frankly my business here is done." She pulled me gently to a wooden bench, softly removing my hand from my pulsing wound. "It might need stitches." She pressed a cloth she retrieved from her pocket onto the wound almost making me squirm away because of the shot of pain that ran freely across my arm. "I was afraid it would be worse. This is not as terrible, you get to see your family again." She just half smiled not meeting my eyes. Her tan hands working softly on my tender skin. "I came here to retrieve you; so we could once again be what we used to be and all I got was my heart shattered. Something tells me I will not walk out of here alive tonight." It broke my heart to hear her so defeated and I did fear for her life. "Can you at least make sure Keana keeps her word of getting me out safely?"

"There is no one as noble as Keana, she will keep her word."

"Please, just for my sake. It'll be the last time you see me." The sadness in her emerald eyes convinced me that one last goodbye will not hurt anyone. Nadia being out of the palace will bring rest to my mind. One less thing to worry about. I agreed with a nod and a soft smile appeared on her face. She finished tying a tight knot on the cloth to prevent blood from spilling any further. "I will get this attended in the house, thank you and be careful." I whispered to her. She squeezed my hand ever so softly before gathering her thoughts and leaving me with my own.
