Eden's POV
The great festive day was coming to an end, the sun had hidden behind the horizon, long ago in the dead of winter. The guests were too full of liquor and many types of food. The music had picked up and some of Rhea's younger soldiers were courting girls to dance with them and many did. Forgetting all about the prestige and tossing their high heels aside, which I found amusing just like I was sure Rhea did. Her smile never faltered, each time someone would fall down from too much wine she would laugh wholeheartedly. The guards on duty asked if they could take those "drunk fools", as they described them, away but to my enjoyment she said no. They were simply having fun and that's what weddings were all about.
The queen had done a lot of human traditions for our wedding, which surprised me. She had done her research well. One of the little customary things for us she did was cut the cake together, another was encouraging me to throw the bouquet of roses. It was a lot of fun to see the faces of elderly high society woman scowling at such “inferior acts”, as they would say, but it was all so very amusing to the young servant girls and younger high elites.
Our wedding represented more than just our mere union. It represented the peace that could exist from all species. I am sure Rhea saw it as well but of course she stayed silent about it, she just continued to enjoy the party.
I had avoided Eva at all cost and it wasn't long before she was escorted out by a guard. She did not want to be present and it sincerely did not bother me. What did bother me was Ivanna, she had disappeared for a while, her absence being noted by the both of us. When she reappeared her cheeks were flustered. Her eyes kept searching the room anxiously and I excused myself in order to finally have some time with her.
"Are you unwell?" I asked her. She just sighed heavily holding onto a red stained cloth. "What happened?"
"Eva, she upset me, so I accidentally broke a glass and injured myself."
"I don't even want to know what she said."
"Forget our sister, you have a bigger problem with a broken heart and green eyes. She was about to do something sincerely idiotic and if you do not act now she will cause many more problems."
"Ivanna you look very lovely." Suddenly that voice made me jump. She placed a hand on my lower back gently. "Thank you, ma'am."
"Is there a problem? Please, call me Rhea.""No, my human idiocy alone. I cut myself and had to excuse myself. I was just explaining to Eden”. Softly Rhea took a hold of the rag. "May I?" My sister only nodded. The cut was deeper than imagined. I grimaced upon inspection. "Nothing we cannot fix as long as Eden is okay with me kissing her sister." I almost choked on thin air. I knew what she was going to do yet the thought was troubling. She smiled upon seeing my reaction. Rolling my eyes I just nodded. My little sister stood stoic as Rhea pressed her lips gently to hers, in a second the queen's eyes had turn red as she transferred some of her energy to Ivanna. Quickly the wound on her hand healed.
"There, now please enjoy the party. Matheo seems to be having fun." So he was, he was dancing like there was no tomorrow with a girl his age. It made the three of us chuckle, they couldn't dance at all, but they were attempting to. My sister gave me one last warning glance before slipping away. Before we could muster another word an elegant woman made her way towards us. It was the same woman James had followed earlier. She was stunning, her natural red hair flowing over her exposed slim shoulders down to the cut of the red dress she was wearing exposing her toned leg as well as her morbid high stilettos. Her eyes were a fierce brown, she had freckles spread all over her perfect symmetric nose. Her lips were decorated with red as well, up in a smirk as she hugged Rhea as if she knew the queen her entire life.
