Eden's POV
After everything that happened on that battlefield the wedding had to be rushed. Rhea had no idea how the gods were going to react and she wanted to make sure my family and I were safe from any harm coming our way. She had whispered how it sadden her not to have her sister by her side and at some point she let sorrow speak for her, saying that she deserved it for what she had done just the night before of Keana's wedding.
The maids were setting my hair, it had gotten long. Today in particular it was shining golden like the rays of the sun coming through the window. They had made a crown of light color flowers that went along with my dress just beautifully. Marrying Rhea one would think it was going to be nothing less than flamboyant, extravagant yet my dress was quite simple. Perhaps because I was the one who designed it. Of course every little detail was sewed with gold thread. The crystals used were pearls and diamonds.
The dress was white and gold, the long sleeves were so delicately handled for a moment you would think it was part of your own skin. It was well adjusted on my waist, outlining my curves with splendor. My hair hung loosely in waves over my shoulders down to my waist, I decided no veil. It was best if all those present got a good look at me. I was not about to start hiding my face. Let them know who their new queen is. A mere human girl who managed to steal the heart of none other than Rhea Lombardi. I'd be lying if I said my heart was not about to burst through my wedding dress, but what a horrible mess would that be.
"My lady, our queen has asked if you would like to add into your attire with this beautiful necklace." Helen asked as she opened the velvety box. It was a delicate golden rose necklace. The center of the rose had only one small diamond that was enough to outshine the room with how polished it was. "It's beautiful, where did she get this?" I spoke as my finger traveled over the rose pendant. "It was a gift from lady Keana to you, but under the circumstances... " I nodded. Keana was my fault. The guilt wouldn't let me sleep for many nights. If only the valor would have slipped from my lips to alert Rhea of what was to happen that day, it all could have been avoided. At times it made me wonder if starting a marriage with such secret was a good idea, but yet this was necessary and I do love Rhea. I find myself often between sword and wall with no escape.
Upon seeing my reflection in the mirror my chest filled with a happiness foreign to me. What was done could not be undone, but today I will get to marry the one woman who managed to make my knees weak and my heart flutter. Regardless of what today means to the world, I know what it means to me. That alone was enough to make me smile.
"You fell in love with the wicked ruler huh?" I looked through the mirror to my back to see Rue standing there with a beautiful maroon silk dress and her hair up in a bun. I instantly went towards her embracing her in a tight hug. "Where have you been?" I asked as I held both of her hands in mine. She smiled brightly at me.
"I got married with one of her soldiers, Rhea allowed us to marry and leave. We have a small house just outside the palace. It's perfect just like him."
"You could have told me." I feigned hurt. I was extremely happy with my friend. The very first friend I had in this palace.
"Everything was so rushed, he presented me to her and asked to marry me that very same day. We thought she would oppose but she allowed it. She even gave us the small cottage to live in. I have a feeling you were on her mind when she made that decision." I smiled gently.
"You really turned that woman's life around."
"She came into my life like a deadly tornado, now here we are."
"Are you in love?" She asked. My heart skipping about four beats whenever that word slips out. My cheeks flushed heated up upon thinking about my soon to be wife.
