My blade's edges burnt out as they cooled down in temperature, steam rising above me and a few other squad member's heads. Only an hour earlier were we out on another expedition to some smaller villages in between Wall Rose and Wall Maria.

But now I stood with the rest of the few Scouts that hadn't been killed when we were first under attack. The year was now 850, but a few years back is when my whole squad suffered under the hands of pure titans, and I had been the only one to make it through.

I really wasn't familiar with these few, but we were to disperse anyway and cancel out any remaining Titans and help the Cadets who hadn't been eaten yet either.

My old squad remained in my lingering thoughts as I thrusted my hips forward, as to angle the heavy maneuvering gear into the air and onto the next Titan I would see.

All you could smell was burning flesh from the remains of fallen Titans, the only noise being an ejection of the ODM gear as I hooked over from roof to roof, and all you could see was bodies. Stacked.

I could feel someone on my back as I came to a short halt, ready to take any orders from them.

" Eliminate any of the remaining Titans as you go, but we need to get back where the wall was damaged." The man I had been assigned with yelled over the booming steps of the distant mob.

" These bastards are swarming all over there!" He panicked.

Our eyes both wide, we made it our mission to turn back to where the Colossal had reappeared at the wall. The two of us were far, but with as much gas we had remaining in our tanks- It was possible to reach the rest of our regiment in time.

Some of the minor Titans remained hidden behind brick buildings, and their presence became more of a concern as another approached. As I tested my back again, Elias was still being squeezed in the paws of a hungry beast.

He screamed for my help, pushing out screams relentlessly as I pulled my body back to the Titan a few meters behind me. It's nape was a clear shot for me to cut up so effortlessly.

I swung my arms back on the handles, and in one round they released their grip and fell down to the ground, taking some debris from one of the homes down with it.

Elias struggles his way out and further up from their hand as we continued north on our path to our comrades, both of us shaken up by the prospect of him nearly being Titan chow.

How had I even made it this far?

-I've been in the military for years now, both the Training Cadets corps and the Scouting regiment. My old squad had passed, and for a while I trained by myself. Every other day or so I would join my good friend Hanji's squad in their drills.
