Word Count... 2509

"Come in my office, I need some help."

Levi's hair was ruffled out of its usual styling. I stopped my foot from pressing to the next wood floor board. Is this how it starts?

I combed a hand by my side and let out a quick breath, my lips curled in as I examined him more.  His skin looked pale contrasting to the dark attire, and my signature at least looked pretty as I hoped.

After a few long seconds of staring down the hall, Levi kicked the door further open to reveal his office. I closed the awkward distance the corridor created while his head turned to my steps.

Before this deal Levi and I seemed to be having more mutual conversations, but now I pushed our teamwork skills back to square zero, maybe negative one. It was so tense, I wasn't sure if he was gonna flip out again or just make me clean the floors with a toothbrush.

"Sure."

Of course I had to say yes. I bet he already had my letter ready, written up and ready for my sign off if I say no to him ever.

With that I was in his office looking at the high arches of the walls. The doors closed out any light with help from the shut blinds. They always seemed to be shut, it was always midnight in his office.

All the doors were shut now. I felt like a mouse in a cage.

Levi swept right by me and relaxed back in his chair, putting on a pair of reading glasses. I thought for a moment they looked a little weird, I hadnt seen them on him in a hot minute.

He tipped the frames down looking at me, directing his eyes to a pile of papers.

" Get to work. Start organizing these by number so I can put them together." Levi took one last look up to my face to make sure I understood.

I was annoyed and hoping my face wouldn't reflect my thoughts. I didn't plan on doing paperwork once I joined the Survey Corp but then again there's no other choice. Id rather do Levi's papers than be absolutely ruined by him.

Once the papers were in my hands I took a seat in a chair behind his desk, further into the dark shadows of his office. A fire burning kept him and I warm. I watched the wood sparkle in flames before starting my work. It was the only thing keeping me alight.

As my eyes wondered back to the papers I quietly sighed. Could he not be so boring?

Whatever.

I started sorting out the papers, the numbers had been scrambled around and the highest I saw was 120. This will take a while, I thought.

7, 28, 10, 2, 88, 67, 54, 31, 21...

The counting went on forever until I had reached number one. My eyes felt strained. I looked up to the doors as I noticed something different.

He was staring right back to me, almost fully turning his chair to see what I was doing. It stunned me as I widened my eyes, trying to see through the dark.

I stood from my seat and strolled over to Levi's desk, neatly lying the papers in his lap.

" Is this all?" I crossed my hands to my back. His eyes wandered to mine before he rested his head to his left.

" Yes. You can go now if you'd like."

I would really love to, thanks.

My brows furrowed as I noticed his hair again. It sort of worried me that he looked like this.
