The impact's jarring sound combined with my short breath overpowered the sounds of crickets chatting, and my thoughts were no longer focused on the tree.

It came to my notice just how much darker it was around me, a slight rush of panic setting in.

Shock crossed my face while I glanced up to where the blazing sun had vanished. Levi was so quiet, I forgot he was standing right next to me now.

" Let's go back now." My words slurred as I caught up with my normal pace of breathing. I wiped sweat from the back of my neck, pressing my knuckles to my forehead while the heat hovered over my skin.

" You finally noticed?" He complained, examining me up and down. Naturally, I attempted to straighten out my heavy limbs and match to his straightened posture.

The clouds gradually mingled with the hazy hue of blue, and the stars weren't even visible yet.

" Just get going." I grumbled, notching my head to the opening.

Levi stepped carelessly along the gravely pass, leaving space to his right. The dark color of many grass mounds created the sort of feeling like we were back in the Castle.

I quickly followed after him. My boots had small splits of bark in them I would have to brush off later tonight, but for now I didn't care much. Usually I wanted to keep myself distanced from Levi if possible, but right now I felt like sticking close was much more reassuring.

The flowing grass had looked so soft as they leaned side to side. My knees began picking up to avoid tripping on any of the small weeds sprouting through rocks. Levi looked forward while I turned to watch above the fields.

Part of me was wanting to ask why he stayed the whole time. I lowered my head as I let my eyes set on my shoes that skipped around the dull soil. Was it because he didn't have anything better to do?

" Hey," Levi grunted.

" Huh?" I flinched my eyes back to him as he paralleled his chin to his sharp shoulder.

" Keep your eyes forward." Levi uncuffed his sleeve  as I watched through the tall mounds of evergreen that blended with his hair.

" Ah yeah, got it Captain." I pushed my shoulder back as he stared me down.

He glanced away, suddenly extending his neck to look for light in our path.

" If you're going to call me Captain, then be consistent."

" Is that a request?" My chin tucked cautiously.

Dim lights flickered from tinted squares, the castle's stone appearing blue from the absence of daylight Levi and I trailed through. From the looks of it, the mess hall was darker than a dead person's coffin.

While Levi gave me no response, I searched around the towers of brick and searched for where my room was.

He's seems so unbothered with it being this late. We could get in trouble if we are caught.

" Are you scared of being out here past dark?"

Levi diverted from the original subject, finally creating solid eye contact with me. My eyebrows raised to his question as I continued to watch over his shoulder. Did I seem like I was a bit frightened?

" No. I just don't like being with you." I exhaled smoothly before adjusting the neckline of my shirt. It felt cold from sweating so much, it made me feel gross.
