The bottle spun so freely, like we hadn't all been putting all of our focus on it. All of our pressure placed on the tip of the bottle. I regretted the choice immediately as my eye sided to Levi. He had been tapping the rim of his glass beside him with a pressed stare at the rug we gathered on.
And there came the flashbacks. Plus more regret.
I wandered off to the window as I anticipated the bottle's stop- The end of its performance. My tensed face eased as I remembered Levi was next to me, and we had no chance of getting locked up in that closet.
The sound of it's rippling chase had left my ears, while I watched a star begin to show it's bright light through the dimming sky.
How pretty. I admire the stars the most out of everything in the sky. Not the marathon of clouds each day, not the moon or the birds flying low- It was always the stars. And currently, I used them as a way to hush the fears in my head.
My shoulder was knocked by a finger poking me. " Hey, F/N! You're up." Armin's hand simmered back to his side as he gave an awkward grin.
I stood for a cautious second and only looked ahead. Then I nodded my head with a 'thanks' and floated over to the closet. It was right behind me, but it felt like such a long haul getting there as I turned my head over my shoulder.
The circle had already started throwing food around as they moved on to another cluster of yelling and laughter.
As the odd one out of the formation, Levi's back leaned at the wall the same way I had seen him yesterday. Our brief glances had me wonder what he still was thinking about.
Something changed over the course of two days, I just couldn't push myself to really press through on what it was or who did it.
A fairly clean closet I had walked into was filled with an intoxicating smell. With some notes of old wood, I took deep inhales like they were my last. At first it startled my body, but I grew to like it the more minutes that passed.
I never did hear who I was with in here.
My knees hurdled close to my chest as I felt clothing ruff up the top of my head. I swatted the fabric like flies as they fought back at me, a strong exhale escaping as the frustration began to build up-
Along with some claustrophobia.
The dark figure beside me hushed my name close to my ear. I lunged to the left, taken back by how close they were as I recognized their tone.
" Jean?" I wanted to make sure I wasn't being fooled.
" Yeah?" He replicated my concern. I heard him shortly laugh after as I leaned forward from the heavy clothing near my shoulders to look closer. It was him.
" I wasn't paying attention before I got in here," I got a good look at the most I could see of his face. My eyelids squeezed as I outlined his long, narrow face with my eyes.
" Didn't fully know if it was you or.. I'm not sure who else." I forced a laugh as he rotated to face me.
Surprisingly it was cold. I shuffled close to the next pile of clothing while I longed for a little bit of coverage as Jean stared up to the ceiling.
" What should we do now?" His voice could barely be heard above the volume from the room where the rest of them partied.
" I guess just pass time, unless either of us comes up with something." Jean mirrored my movements as he smacked away coats and shirts from his shoulders.
Soon, we were both in staring distance as we faced the same way separated from the clothing racks. The time passed fast, and I didn't mind. But I felt weird, why were we doing this to just sit in here? There was definitely more we were expected to do, but how could we stir up any ideas with this much clutter?
" 1 Minute left you two!"
I felt pressure leaving me as our time left was announced, but it must have gone into the hands of Jean as his voice cracked at my ear.
" I need to tell you something." He said.
I turned my head over to see him as he fumbled closer above me. " What's that?"
My chest began to pound for no reason. I felt myself soon forcing back to the wall as he moved closer and closer above me. His cold hand made contact with my neck as it leaned on me for balance.
" I really, really like you F/N. I couldn't keep hiding it from you." The words slipped through my ears carefully as his head lowered to mine. My back slouched into the clothing behind me as our lips nearly touched.
" I'm sorry." I blurted. My head turned, unable to look at Jean's.
" C'mon, don't you feel the same?" His voice had a taste of urgency in it. I could hear the steps outside of the door before he started to move his head further down to mine, causing me to look back up.
Jean's brow flinched as he carefully examined my uncomforted posture. But before I could even begin to explain what I said, the door rolled open on its track and had us both jump.
The all black outfit laddered up my eyes as I glared the figure up and down, soon reaching his face- It was Levi. He grimaced to both Jean and I as I scrambled to get up, Jean hopping off of me swiftly like a rabbit.
I expected him to say something, but instead he left us only with that disgusted face. But I'm sure that was enough for him to say. Levi left swiftly like he was known for doing, leaving the door shut again.
I opened it right after, making a quick escape.
Jean and I were on our feet in front of the group, and I made sure to fix my up done hair before exiting as I eyed the circle. I wanted to leave more than anything, my attention leaning to the ground as my mouth hung open.
I stretched and gave a fake yawn, looking at the empty half Levi and I left. Shit. I hope they don't say anything.
" Well, this was really fun but I have some work I forgot about." I patted my hand at my lips as my face softened. I tried hard to not look at Jean as he moved back to the circle with an envious look.
" Aw really?" A few of them whined. My arm fell limp back at my side as I moved my view back to Sasha, who grinned at me.
" Go ahead! We'll see you and Captain Levi tomorrow." She waved her two fingers to me.
" Thanks." I whispered to her, and set off to the door and down the next few halls until I nearly reached Levi's office- Almost skipping the whole way. Fuck, how do I fix this?
The long steps I took began to pick up. If Captain Levi were here right now, he'd yell at me for running. But I'm sure that's the least of his and my worries.
made it right to his doors. And just like that, they were shut.
I continued to pant as my legs cramped. I tried to stretch them out a little, but they only hurt more. It was like they were warning me not to go in there.
But I wasn't one to listen. My fist raised to the wood as the very distant clicking of a pen made me flinch back. I slowly cursed my fist at the door and watched it open, as it was already. I just hadn't noticed from so far away.
Then, the clicking stopped as I tipped my foot through the open door.
