Word count... 1374

Everyone sat silently in their seats, while other tables still conjured up conversation after conversation. We stared at each other with confusion, most of them looking back at the door like Levi would suddenly return to the table.

" Did Captain Levi just leave?" A boy asked. He had a conflicting look in his eyes, as Eren pushed the bench seat back in.

" Yeah, he did." I reassured, taking my tray in my hands.

God was this awkward now.

" Does anyone have any dishes their done with? I'll go ahead and take them."

A few of them handed over their dishes, thanking me while I piled them on top of one another. They slowly started talking again as I listened through the hall.

My ears turned up, not one sound came from the following corridor. You could probably hear a nail dropping by now.

For a moment as I dropped the dishes off, I contemplated the world where I had followed after him. If I had, then I would have easily been told off again. What a jerk.

Sasha scooted past me, dropping a few trays next to mine as we both greeted one another.

" This may be weird to talk to you about, since you're my superior-" Sasha paused, glancing past my shoulder and through the door while she pursed her lips gently.

" Do you know why Captain Levi left in such a hurry?"

Her eyes shook back and forth to the door, and then the table. Everyone else in our squad began to clear out of the hall and probably back upstairs for the evening since nothing more was to be scheduled.

I tried to ease the tension by discreetly giggling at her reaction. She raised her eyebrows, waiting for me to reply.

" Honestly, I don't. He's not the best communicator with me yet, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with you all."

Sasha and I began walking as she wiped her forehead dramatically, displaying her relief. We broke out into a silent laugh, before I noticed the others ahead of us.

" Also, you guys aren't far from my age, so I'd be A-OK with you referring to me more as a friend." I beamed, Sasha's eyes lighting up as we spoke.

" Awesome! Only you though, not with Captain L-"

" Hm?"  I puzzled, her words suddenly coming to a whisper.

Sasha's eyes were drawn to my side, and her lips were sealed tight as I looked to her.

Levi walked neatly by me, having a look at me for a split second before turning around and disappearing behind Sasha and I. He decided to return quickly, but lunch had almost concluded already. I peered over my side, curious, to see him turn his body back to face mine.

We had been separated enough, Sasha must not have payed attention to him after he left.

Levi inhaled deeply and motioned to himself with his finger. When he eventually got my interest, he quietly mouthed to me the silent words,
