Jeongguk, Jimin, Chaeyoung, and Mingyu patiently waited for Jennie and Taehyung, who claimed to have already found Lalisa.
Jeongguk seemed anxious, yet none of the three dared to speak up to him since he had this aura that prevented them from muttering a word. Jeongguk felt a rush of mixed emotions — both worried and furious.
One — he found out that those cops were real cops from Seoul, but no records have been shown that they were sent there due to the Im Jinlee case, nor any case related to Busan.
Two — Lalisa willingly left with them without any signs of hesitation or fear. She seemed to know them as well.
Jeongguk couldn't depict what kind of person Lalisa is. Who is she? What has he gotten himself into?
Just moments after, Jennie and Taehyung arrived, followed by a police car driven by Beomgyu, one of their junior policemen. Since Busan was undergoing a lockdown, it was hard to enter the district premises.
Jeongguk wasted no time and jogged to Jennie and Taehyung's car. Jennie immediately exited the car, placing her index finger on her lips to signal him to quietly open the backseat.
He nodded, obeying Jennie. There, he saw Lalisa peacefully sleeping there like a baby. "She must be exhausted from traveling to Seoul, then back here," Jennie tells him softly.
Jeongguk nodded and looked at them. "Is it okay to interrogate you and Taehyung hyung, Jennie-ssi?"
Taehyung got out of the car, with him and Jennie immediately making eye contact. Taehyung seemed to understand what was in Jennie's complex mind, so he nodded.
Jennie looked back at Jeongguk and gave him a faint smile. "I permit to the interrogation. Where will this take place?"
"Wherever you're comfortable with," Jeongguk tells her.
Jennie then looks back, seeing Chaeyoung, Jimin, and Mingyu waiting on the porch. She then darts her eyes back onto Jeongguk and points at his house. "Would your home be okay?"
Jeongguk looks at his house, then back onto Jennie. "As you wish, Atty. Kim."
He then gently carries Lalisa away from the car and then makes his way to enter his house, with Mingyu opening the door for him. Once they all entered, Jeongguk went to Lalisa's room and gently placed her on the bed.
Mingyu gave them some time alone, which Jeongguk appreciated. He sighed upon hearing the little snores from her, which he found undoubtedly adorable.
Suddenly, her eyes fluttered open, seeing Jeongguk right before her. "H–huh? I'm already here——?"
He wasted no time and pulled her into an embrace. Lalisa froze on the spot, not knowing how to react. He stroked her hair, digging his face deeper into the crook of her neck.
"Jeongguk, I'm fine. Nothing dangerous happened to me. I just needed to settle something I left back in Seoul——"
"Then you could've told me that." He pulled away, grabbing onto her shoulders.
He's worried for me, Lalisa thought as she studied his facial expressions. Never did she see anyone worry for her like that. This made Lalisa feel . . . quite odd inside.
"You could've told me you needed to settle something rather than hanging up on me. Do you know how much I lost my mind here thinking you were possibly captured?!"
"Don't raise your voice." Lalisa massaged her temples.
Jeongguk gulped, lowering his voice. "Just tell me, and I'll understand. I could've even picked you up——"
