One week later
Jeon Residence
Busan, South Korea
Oh.
Lalisa squinted her eyes at the ring on her hand, which Jeongguk just bought. She then slowly turned her head toward her husband, seeing a matching ring on his hand as well.
Yes, husband.
Jeongguk was far from joking when he offered to register their marriage. Just one week ago, she confessed that she also loves him, and now she's married to him. Not that she's complaining, of course. She did have marriage in mind as soon as she caught feelings for him, but she didn't expect it to be this soon.
While she was taking out their groceries, which Jeongguk forbade her to do yet she still did anyway, reasoning that arranging stuff was her way to relax and ease her mind, she halted and stared at Jeongguk. He was busy at the dining table. He received an urgent call from one of their chiefs and needed to review some files.
Wow. Lalisa couldn't help but think. As if she was awakened from a trance, she suddenly flinched, looking around. It was cozy. Everything came in pairs (because Jeongguk splurged on a ton of couple things the other day) and it was peaceful.
She never envisioned herself being where she is today. Unloading the groceries. At home. Their home. Married and already expecting a child.
“Hey, chief? You seem quiet,” Jeongguk spoke up, snapping her out of her thoughts. He had his brows furrowed, worried for her. “Hey, wait a minute, are you unloading the——?”
“Guk, we're married,” Lalisa told him, her jaw hanging ajar. She muttered this as if she were sharing new information with him. It's been a week, but it just occurred to her that she was actually married. It wasn't a dream.
Jeongguk couldn't help but smile. “For a week now, yes. I am indeed your husband now, darling.”
“I'm fucking married.” Lalisa covered her mouth with her palm. “And it's not to Kun. Oh my god.”
The male began to pout upon hearing another man's name — especially her ex-fiancé's name — from his wife. Although knowing that Kun and Lalisa were completely platonic and only had been set up, couldn't help but squint her eyes at his wife.
Hehe, wife. Jeongguk began to ease down upon this thought. So, instead of frowning, he began to smile at her. “Mhm. You're married to me,” Jeongguk told her as if he was confirming a vital piece of information to her.
Jeongguk didn't expect her to agree that night. He wasn't joking, yes, but he thought the percentage of her agreeing to marry him was relatively low.
“And I haven't even asked. We haven't discussed this yet. Am I, like, to be referred to as Mrs. Jeon now or something?” Lalisa momentarily leans on the counter table behind her.
That sent Jeongguk's heart into a frenzy. He tried to play it cool, clearing his throat. “Though we are married now, it's your choice if you want to use my last name. You can refer to yourself as a Manoban-Jeon. And if you want to keep using Manoban as your last name, know that I don't have a problem with that at all.”
“No, no. I like being Mrs. Jeon,” Lalisa shyly admitted, looking away from him. Oh, Jeongguk's heart did a little leap right there. “But I think I'll continue being referred to as Attorney Manoban at work in order to avoid confusion in the meantime.”
“No problem.” He smiled at her, his bunny teeth showing. “What do you want to do today? I'll take the day off.”
“What?” Lalisa gawked at him. “You promised you were going to go to work today. You haven't stepped foot in the office for almost a week now, Jeon Jeongguk——”
