"You're going to work?" Lalisa groggily asks as she exits her room. She glances at the clock, squinting to get a better view. "At 5 AM? Seriously?"
Jeongguk sighed as started to walk towards Lalisa, grabbed her shoulders, turned her around, and lightly pushed her back to the guest room. "Yeah, we have a lot of ongoing cases."
"That sounds fun——"
"Mhm, don't even think about it." He lightly pulls her down to sit on the bed. "You should go to sleep and get some rest."
"It's boring when I'm alone here," she tells him.
"Then I'll tell Gyu to escort you here," Jeongguk suggests.
Lalisa arches an eyebrow, crossing her arms beneath her chest. "I'm pretty sure that Mingyu is ignoring us right now."
"Huh?" Jeongguk gawked. "He is?"
"He is," she tells him. "He must be crossed that he was the only clueless one in the situation. We should go talk to him."
Jeongguk chuckles, stands up, and ruffles her hair. "Don't be silly. I'm sure Gyu just needed time to process stuff."
Mingyu never ignored him and Chaeyoung after all. Ever. The three of them have been best friends for the longest time, and Mingyu has never attempted to ignore the two even once. He's the bond in their friendship.
"So you're not gonna talk to him and apologise?" Lalisa arches an eyebrow. "Look, I have an insane amount of pride, but when I know I'm wrong——" Lalisa halts, pursing her lips to rethink her words. "Okay, when I know I'm less right, I step up and acknowledge it. You should do the same. I really think Mingyu is ignoring us."
To this, Jeongguk just chuckled and shook his head. "Sure, sure. I'll talk to him later and prove that he's not ignoring us."
Lalisa just rolled her eyes and plopped herself back onto the bed. "What time will you come back?" Lalisa asks him, wrapping herself in the blanket.
She looks like a baby, Jeongguk inwardly thought. "Concerned for me?" he teases, still hoping she'd like him back one day.
"Yeah, humanly concern." Lalisa snorts at the flashback of Jeongguk, addressing his ample concern for her and their baby back then.
Jeongguk gulps, cringing at this. Oh, how can he even explain what was going on in his head back then when he said that? "That was my line . . ." Jeongguk decided to play along instead.
"Was," Lalisa teased. "Okay, you go now. I'm sure you'll come back before midnight."
"Oh?" Jeongguk's eyebrows rose. "I haven't said anything yet. How are you so sure?"
"I'm craving for some bananas," Lalisa cutely says. "Can you bring some for me later?"
Jeongguk figured that Lalisa wasn't usually like this. In front of others, she was stern and professional. Well, but of course, she had an image to keep after all.
"I'm not so sure since I don't know what time I'll——" Jeongguk paused and gulped upon seeing Lalisa glare at him.
Attorney Manoban showed up pretty quickly.
"Alright, chief. I'll return as soon as I can and bring you some bananas. Are we cool?"
By this, Lalisa's mood shifted in an instant, beaming a bright smile towards him. "Excellent! Thank you so much!"
Jeongguk ruffled her hair and said, "Okay. I'll get going now. Stay indoors and rest. It's still quite dangerous outside." He watched her as she slowly drifted to dreamland and fell asleep. This made Jeongguk smile in satisfaction.
