A/N: Did you all really think that I wouldn't make up for the past three months that I was gone?
By the way, boy or girl?
Choose wisely because I didn't clarify the question. ;)
Flashback . . .
Alice takes out the beverage she bought from the vending machine, opens it, and immediately drinks it.
You've got this in the bag, her colleagues would tell her. Alice smirked at this — of course, she knew that. She's never lost a case, plus she's going against a rookie lawyer for this one.
Just then, she received a call from Chaeyoung, her little sister. However, just before she could answer it, a young woman started to talk to her — which, assumably, she was around the same age as her sister.
"Do you have any anxiety pills there?"
Alice's brows furrowed at how impolite she sounded. It was the first time she had seen her, so she glanced at her ID to know her name at least.
Atty. Lalisa Manoban.
Her, Alice thought. She's the one she's going against later. Since Alice didn't really like her tone, she started to look at her mockingly. "What do you need anxiety pills for?"
"None of your business, really," Lalisa mumbled.
"You do know who I am, right?" Alice asks her, brows furrowing.
"No," Lalisa bluntly answers. "If you don't have any, I'll go now."
Just before Lalisa could turn away, Alice immediately spoke up. She didn't know why, but there was something about Lalisa that ticked her off.
"I'm Atty. Alice Park," she tells the younger. "Does it ring a bell now?"
"I don't hear any bells," Lalisa shrugs, "so I guess no?"
"You must kidding me," Alice spits out. "Well, I guess the least we can do is properly introduce each other. I'm Alice Park, the lawyer you're going against later." She offered her hand.
However, instead of shaking Alice's hand, Lalisa stared straight at her phone.
"What?" Alice asked.
"Your phone," Lalisa tells her, "I think you should pick that call up."
"You don't need to tell me what to do," Alice rumbled and tucked her phone in her bag. Lalisa couldn't help but arch her eyebrow because of this. "Anyway, Atty. Manoban, nervousness is a common feeling when you're handling your first case, so I understand that you need anxiety pills to——"
"Me? Nervous?" Lalisa smirks at her. "Sure."
"I'm sure there are other people who have anxiety pills here," Alice tells Lalisa with a sarcastic smile.
"Yeah, okay," Lalisa mumbles, then slightly bows at her. "I hope you have prepared well for this trial, Alice sunbaenim."
"Shouldn't I be the one saying that?" Alice arches an eyebrow.
"I know, right?" Lalisa winked at her, bowed once more, then carried on.
Alice's teeth gritted immediately. Disrespectful! Rude! How dare she! Alice inwardly raged. She once again felt her phone ring. Once she took her phone out, she was surprised to see four missed calls from Chaeyoung.
