Kgothatso Mchaba:
"Expect me there!" i said as i did my little dance , i ended the call and danced even more until I heard a knock on the door ...I walked towards the door and opened it slightly "Open up big head,"
Brandon said , I last spoke to him at the event I was holding , nowadays we rarely spoke and I think it had something to do with Mandisa , I let him in and in his hands he was holding box's of pizza and in the other was a bottle of Whisky, "Umonati Joe?"
I nodded my head and let him in , he put the items down and took of his jacket putting it on my couch "Man i heard the event was fire ,sorry I couldn't stay for the after party though."
I smiled and went into my kitchen to retrieve two plates and glasses. "Go wash your hands Brandon," he laughed "Forgot how much you a neat freak."
While he went into the bathroom I took his jacket and put it on top of the coat rack I had bought because I didn't like my jackets or coats hanging just anywhere when Brandon came back from the bathroom he sat down and we prayed for the food.
"Amen," we said at the same time. We dug into our food and silence was present all you heard was the silent chewing , swallowing ,sips from the glasses ,music playing lowly in the background and nature taking course outside.
"Groot maan...i'm sorry." Brandon stopped chewing and looked at me "I'm sorry for not being there for you , not believing you and well for everything." i instantly went back to chewing avoiding any chance of eye contact.
"Why the sudden change of heart?" he asked lowly , I took a huge gulp and put my plate of food down. "I erm...researched abuse against men,"
Actually saying this out loud made me ashamed of myself ,I wouldn't believe my brother...but I believe the results of Google "Turns out your not the first male to report it."
I took the time to look into his eyes and all I managed to interpret from that one look was 'wow , all this time ...' I stood up and he still had not said anything.
I walked towards my room and opened my closet to see the gift I had bought for him wrapped up. I took it out and walked out of my room , I had left Brandon in the same position ... I just didn't know if he was hurt.
I sat down and placed the gift right to him "I know gifts can't replace the hurt and humiliation you went through , or the fact that your uhm family turned their backs on you , but this is my olive branch. "
"Don't open it now though , you can open it when your home." I suggested and he looked at me "Kgothatso I didn't want your gifts , I wanted your support and at first glance you turned your back on me and cut ties with me.
How was I supposed to feel ,I practically raised you because Mama le Papa we're too busy to look after us. You doubted me without even talking to me first."
He stood up and i followed lead "Where you going ?" I asked not wanting my brother to leave without us not talking. He side stepped me and put the gift I had bought for him on my kitchen counter "Call me when you need something, I love you bro." he said then opened my door to leave.
I just looked at my door frustrated , he was supposed to take the gift , the gift was my symbol of saying I'm sorry...what does he want my flipping sympathy!
