Dani's POV
I hurriedly swept my unkempt hair into a high messy bun, quickly running out the door in my leggings and tank top to meet Sloane for training. I was already late and she'd be furious if I blew her off. I ran all the way to the training center, catching her walking up the steps just in time. She gave me a knowing look and then smiled, linking her arm with mine as we walked inside.
"Just in the nick of time per usual I see." She muttered.
"Sorry." I mumbled and then followed beside her as she made her way to the common area in the middle of the pack house and the training facility.
As we came around the corner, I saw Lo sitting on the steps in conversation, but she looked up and waved when she saw the two of us coming up to the house. I nodded hello, a pang twisting in my chest as I saw Lo. I knew I needed to speak to her. I owed her a conversation and a thank you after what she did at the meeting for Noah and me.
I gave her a quick glance and was about to muster the nerve when my mom and Charlotte walked up in front of us.
"Good morning ladies." Charlotte greeted us cheerfully.
We all smiled and wished them good morning and my mother's eyes briefly fell from me to Lo and back again. "What are your plans today?" She finally asked.
"We're about to train, Luna." Sloane responded.
"I see. I believe your father is doing so as well." My mom turned to scan the grounds behind us, looking for my father before she finally picked him out.
He and Noah were sparring together, but I could see it was getting more intense. Each movement seemed to land a little bit harder, each punch pushed through with more intent than the last. Several males were beginning to surround them, watching the exchange with interest knowing it was our present and our future battling together.
We slowly made our way to stand with the growing crowd, moving our way to the front of the group to watch. I couldn't ignore the pride seeing him match my father's movements, countering and holding his own against a wiser Alpha. His body tensed and I knew he sensed me near him. His eyes quickly glanced over his shoulder, only briefly enough to find me and his lips curled up at the edges when he finally locked eyes with me. I nodded and gave him a smile before motioning that my father was about to charge.
Noah turned back just in time to avoid a critical hit and instead slid his leg beneath my father's, knocking him off balance long enough to shift out of the way. The light hit every crest and valley on his body as he moved, his muscles tensing and coiling as he regained his defensive position. I couldn't help but admire the sight before me, knowing that this incredible male in front of me was all mine.
The crowd cheered on their Alpha, but some were beginning to encourage Noah as well. Pride began to swirl within me knowing that my pack supported him as their future leader. Sloane leaned in and whispered in my ear, "Your man is holding his own. This might be a draw."
I laughed quietly and replied, "It will be hard to beat my father. But I think you're right. He's definitely matching him."
"I'm pretty sure he's bigger than when he got here. Right?" Sloane said as she watched Noah take a solid hit from my father. She leaned over to Lo and elbowed her to engage her in the conversation "Come on. He's definitely bigger! I'm not crazy right?"
Lo laughed nervously and then replied, "The latter is debatable. But yes, I think he's grown in size since first arriving."
Now that they mentioned it, seeing him hand to hand with my dad, he did look to have changed some. Noah was now eye to eye with him and his body seemed to have even bulked up a little more, nearly matching my father's size but not quite. I'd felt the subtle differences slowly over time but seeing them in front of me now, it was undeniable.
Finally my father swooped around after taking a hard hit from Noah. His arm hooked around and he tackled Noah to the ground, pinning him until he submitted. After several moments passed, Noah reluctantly tapped to submit and my father released his hold.
"Your father's training skills live up to their reputation. You nearly had me there a few times." My father said, offering Noah a hand up.
Noah laughed and winced slightly, nodding in gratitude. "Thank you. He was ruthless at times, but it's paid off for me more times than I can count."
"Tomorrow, I want to go over some moves that may round you out more. Before long, you may be ready to finally beat me if I'm not careful." My father's voice boomed as he laughed and clapped Noah on the back. Noah grimaced slightly at the pain before catching my eye and giving me a breath stealing smirk.
He walked up to me and I felt my breath quicken at the sight of him. "You distracted me a few times. But the hit was worth it." He leaned down and kissed me softly and whispered in my ear so only I could hear. "And I heard those thoughts loud and clear watching me fight. I'm yours to do whatever you'd like to baby."
I giggled as his warm breath tickled against my skin, placing my hand on his chest and pushing him back. It was nearly impossible to ignore the tingling sensation but I quickly shifted my mind.
"Are you ladies about to train?" Noah asked.
"We are." I replied and Sloane nodded with a sly smile.
Noah's eyes fell to Lo and he gave her a quick nod before catching my gaze again.
"Well don't mind if I stick around for that." He said with a wink. He sealed it with a quick peck and fell back to speak to some of the other males surrounding my father.
Sloane looked at me and then back to Lo and finally spoke. "Lo, do you want to join us? We could do some two on one drills."
Her eyes cut to mine and I let out a slow breath before nodding. "I don't mind if you don't."
She smiled and nodded yes. "Why not?"
