*A/N: Thank you all for your patience as I know this update has been long overdue. My husband had a health scare recently and has been in recovery, so writing took a back seat while we navigated through the steps to help get him healed. I am finally back and able to start updating again and I hope you all love this chapter!
Dani's POV
Noah joined me at our table and handed me my drink with a quick wink as Lo walked over and took her seat. She looked at me with a huff and said, "I thought you said you didn't want one!"
I opened my mouth to answer but Noah replied smoothly. "Sorry I assumed that responsibility for you Lo. I would've gotten you one too if I'd known you were hunting one." He flashed her his dashing smile and she laughed and moved on easily. His hand squeezed mine under the table and I smiled knowingly.
"Thank you." I thought.
"I got you baby." Noah replied through our link.
Sloane flopped down at the table with her plate and then finally Logan walked up to the table, holding the hand of his new-found mate. The table stopped and looked up at them as if we were all waiting for the earth to move. I finally jumped to my feet and linked my arm around hers, pulling her in close. "I'll be the first to welcome you as our guest and Logan's mate." I gave her a smile and nodded in reassurance. She looked confident but unsure of how to proceed with those of us nearby and around Logan. "I didn't get a chance to meet you last night. I'm Dani." I said, stepping back and taking my seat again. I scooted over and gestured for her to sit beside me. She did and Logan followed to take his place beside her at the end across from Lo.
She seemed to be relieved and smiled back at me before answering. "I'm Olivia, but you can call me Liv."
She had light brown hair and a gorgeous smile, her mismatched eyes slightly deeper than mine with one deep blue like the open ocean, and one dark brown like the trunk of the trees in our forest.
"So do you think you'll want to join our pack, or how does this work if you are aligned with the Lunar Alpha?" Sloane bluntly asked without hesitation, true to form. She postured in a way that seemed relaxed, but I could see that she wanted to find out her answer without small talk. She still was on edge around the newcomers, and I couldn't blame her. I'm sure I would have been if I weren't one myself.
Liv smiled awkwardly and shrugged, looking at Logan who just rubbed the back of his neck in discomfort. "Uh, that's something we still have to figure out I guess." Logan answered in a mumble.
I cut my eyes at Sloane before interrupting her assuredly next blunt statement. "And you deserve the time needed to figure that out between you both. Sloane is just worried about our favorite little brother leaving us." I said, trying to lighten my tone while sending a warning glance Sloane's way.
Logan gave me a look of gratitude before the conversation quickly moved forward. I nodded and took a sip of my drink, remembering to sip slowly to avoid raising suspicion of my friends.
The night was filled with laughter and joy, celebrating newly mated couples and a strong new alliance for our pack. I was happy to see my pack accepting the other she wolves, even though they had no true ties to us.
As I looked around, my eyes caught sight of a pair of golden shining eyes staring back at me from the tree line. I blinked and they were gone, as if they'd never been there. I tried to focus, confirming if I did indeed see what I thought I'd seen. I took a step forward to investigate when I felt a familiar pair of arms wrap around my waist and pull me into a chiseled tall body.
