Dani's POV
The drive wasn't that long, but it felt like an eternity before we arrived back on Crescent Pack's lands. Noah and I rode in comfortable silence as his hand rested gently against my exposed thigh. My hand was placed on top of his, my fingers rubbing circles into the top of his palm, enjoying the comforting feeling of the bond moving soothingly between us.
How could so much happen in three days? In three days, I'd found my mate in someone I'd never seen coming. I'd found out that I was a true shewolf and shifted around those I didn't know and didn't trust, only having four people to call ally as I endured it. I'd been nearly attacked. But most of all, I'd completed the bond with my mate. I couldn't believe it was finally time and all here. I couldn't believe I had a mate, after all this time searching. It had been him all along. Who could have seen this in our future?
As we pulled up to the house, I felt an anxious ball start to tighten inside my stomach. My father will be thrilled to know I've finally found my mate, but not with who it is. And not with the fact that we'd completed the bond alone and without proper ceremony. How was I going to tell him this? How was I going to tell him everything that's happened? Everything's changed.
"It's going to be ok." Noah's deep voice pulled me from the fog of my thoughts as he lifted my fingers to his lips, kissing against them gently as his eyes met mine.
The tightness in my chest waned for a moment in his gaze, a steady hum pulsing between us as I felt his mind in my own. I nodded and gave him a small smile before we both got out of the car, trying to prepare myself. I was sure Ki and Zachary had filled him in on what they knew before we'd arrived.
My father stormed out of the house, slamming the door open as he stalked towards us. He stopped suddenly, his nostrils flaring as his eyes bored into mine before glancing over my shoulder with fury rolling off of him.
"What the fuck happened? How could you let this happen?" He barked at Ki and Zachary as their wolves stood at attention behind us, their heads lowered in submission.
"Dad, please listen. You'll understand once we've told you everything. I don't know what Zach and Ki have filled you in on, but..." I started quickly.
"Everything. They've told me everything Daniela." He glared down at me as his lip snarled. He turned his gaze on Noah before returning back to me, lowering his voice dangerously. "But I'm sure there are some things you can elaborate on fully. Get inside."
I moved to step around him and glanced over my shoulder to see my father unmoving as he glared down at Noah who was returning his hard gaze with one of his own and drawing himself to his full height, matching my father's as he stood eye to eye. A muscle in my father's jaw ticked as I opened my mouth to speak.
"Inside Dani. Now." My father commanded.
I felt a tug of guilt and confusion. Every part of me seemed to refuse to leave Noah, but my father and Alpha had made a demand of me. I searched Noah's face, and he finally glanced at me with a short nod before stepping back, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood between the two large wolves behind him.
"Go with him." Noah's voice pushed into my thoughts and I could feel the strength rolling off of him.
It wasn't that I needed his permission, but it felt wrong to leave him, to answer to someone else now when he was my match. I wanted to stay with him. I wasn't ready to part yet, but I felt a small feeling of relief that he'd be ok until I could sort this out with my family. My dad snorted in triumph at him before turning on his heel and walking towards the house. His large hand gripped my elbow and tugged me to fall in step beside him.
