Four days earlier...
Lo's POV
"Lo get your ass in gear. We have to get up to the main house right now. Something's happened." Logan said sternly, grabbing my arm and pulling me toward the door and away from my book I was reading.
"Logan..." I pulled my arm back when he wouldn't hear me, causing him to stop and turn to face me.
He looked at me seriously and finally exhaled slowly. I could tell he was trying to gather his words. I knew that look. I'd seen it too many times throughout our lives. He had to tell me something difficult.
"Noah and Dani were attacked by Blake's Beta on the way back from the meet with Shadow Moon. Owen shot Noah with a silver bullet." Logan said quickly, almost forcing the replay out.
My jaw dropped and I stepped closer, getting him to look at me. "Is he ok? Where is Dani? Did they hurt her? I have to go check on them." I grabbed my jacket, pushing him towards the door with a quickened pace now.
Logan stood still for a moment, his face holding a sadness I hadn't seen since Wyatt was...attacked.
"Lo, they took her. Blake has her now I'm assuming, but they haven't contacted us yet. I don't know anything else." He answered, his jaw tense.
"And...and Noah?" I said softly, trying to hold myself together.
Logan shook his head, watching me carefully. "I honestly don't know Lo. They shot him point blank in the chest with a silver bullet. If he's still alive when he gets back here, I don't see how he can survive that."
I stopped in my tracks, my hand covering my mouth as I choked back the emotion threatening to flood over me. "Where are they bringing him?" I asked, my voice nearly a whisper.
Logan held out his hand, waiting for me to take it. "That's why we're going to the main house."
I exhaled slowly and took his hand, letting him guide it through the crook of his arm as we walked together. My mind was racing, all of this feeling too familiar. Only now, my best friend was gone and I had no way of knowing if she was ok.
"Eli will know what to do." I said, more to myself than to Logan.
We quickly made our way up to the main house, walking inside and down the long hallway to the back or the house until we got to the basement door. I'd made this walk once before. Our infirmary was housed down here and it wasn't uncommon for a wolf to need healing downstairs. But I'd last made this walk to see Wyatt once they'd returned his body home.
I took a calming breath, thinking of Dani as we stood at the door, guarded by Ki. While Ki requested approval, I prepared myself and steeled my emotions for what awaited downstairs. I nodded to Logan and Ki to open the door and he gave us a solemn nod before stepping aside.
We slowly walked downstairs to see Eli, my dad Anthony, and Zachary along with Delta Mason and small group of enforcers. Selene stood beside Eli and looked at me with a devastated expression. They all stood over a small foldout table, the men speaking in angry hushed tones. They looked up to see us and Eli stopped. I walked up to him and Selene, hugging them both without thinking of what I was doing. Eli tensed at the encounter, but slowly allowed me to hug him, wrapping his large arms around half of me and letting out a slow breath.
