Chapter 21.

Danis's POV

We made our way back to the Pack House when my mother's voice popped into my mind.

"Dani, could you and Noah please meet me at the house?" I could sense the excitement in her tone which meant it was something about the ceremony if I had to guess.

I chuckled and looked up at Noah who quirked an eyebrow at me. "My mother is summoning us to the house."

"Well then let's not keep her waiting." He replied.

We arrived at the house and walked in just as my mother was opening the door. "Come in. Come in!" She said in excitement.

I laughed and we followed her in as she closed the door behind us. "Mom...what's going on?" I asked.

"Noah, please go to the guest house and there is something waiting for you on the bed. I'll need you to try it on and be sure it fits. I think I guessed your correct size but I need to be sure." She said, pointing to the back door with a smile.

"Yes ma'am." Noah nodded and made his way out back.

"Dani, I have you something upstairs. Let's go see it." She said with a sneaky smile and I followed her up the stairs to my room.

"I'm sorry about this." I said to Noah through our link.

"You never have to apologize for a mother who cares about you." He replied and I could hear the humor in his words.

My mom opened the door and I saw a beautiful long dress laid out across the bed waiting for me. "Mom what is this?" I asked as I walked closer to inspect it.

"Your mating ceremony was taken from you, but this time we will be sure to do this right." She walked closer and ran her fingers through my long hair, leaning into me as she spread out the silky lightweight material. "Do you like it?" She asked quietly.

I turned to face her and smiled through the tears filling my eyes. "It's gorgeous mom." I threw my arms around her and pulled her close. "You didn't have to do this." I said finally pulling away and wiping my tears. "I know it was quick, but I don't mind how it all happened. It was how it had to be done." I said quickly.

Mom pushed my hair back off my shoulders and gave me a sad smile, her warm chestnut eyes glassing over with unshed tears of her own. "Sweetheart, your mating ceremony should never be something that was 'how it had to be done'. You deserve this moment after all of the heartache you've made your way through this year. We all deserve this moment of happiness. And we're going to make sure you get it." I felt a moment of sadness hit her and I knew she was thinking of Wyatt. "Your brother would have wanted this to be perfect for you." She said quietly. "He loved you so much."

I choked back more tears and smiled. "He would have killed Noah for doing this all so informally without speaking to you all. Even though we had to. And then he'd have brought him back to make sure we had a proper ceremony." I said with a laugh.

"Everything fits perfectly. Tell your mother I'm all good down here. Enjoy your time with her." Noah's words came into my mind.

"Is Noah ok?" My mom asked, recognizing my glazed look.

I nodded and she smiled back. "Ok so...let's try on your dress."
