Dani's POV

I laced my fingers in Noah's as we walked up to my father's office door. It was shut and soundproofed, but I could hear their conversations still from the outside. They were planning for war.

Noah knocked three quick knocks on the door and waited for permission to enter before we opened the door. My father, his Beta Anthony, Zachary and Ki were inside, along with some of his Deltas as they prepared for what was inedibly coming our way.

"It's about fucking time Hayes. What took you so long?" Anthony grumbled as he looked up from the papers spread across my father's desk.

I quickly closed the door behind us as Noah replied. "We had an unexpected visitor. I'm sorry for the delay, but my brother was waiting for me when I got to our cabin."

"You think I don't know that already? What did he say?" My dad replied curtly.

Noah didn't seem surprised to hear that Theo's presence had been reported, and he immediately continued. "He confirmed the scout we caught a scent of this morning did report to our father and that he will want to attack while Lunar Pack is still here. So we should prepare for something happening quickly."

Eli nodded to Zachary and Ki who began grabbing their things to move into preparations for lockdown.

"There's one more thing you should know that my father could use in his attack against us." Noah said, his words coming out slowly.

I could feel that he didn't want everyone to know now, like he wanted to protect our child by keeping it hidden away from the rest of the world until he or she was safe. The excitement of sharing was long gone. Now it was different. Now our baby was in danger.

I stepped closer and slipped my hand into Noah's, trying to calm him through the bond. I felt his breathing even slightly and he straightened before speaking, looking to my father directly. "Dani is pregnant."

The room was completely still for a moment as the news settled over them
all, all eyes focused intently on me and then my stomach that now held the future heir of this pack. My eyes briefly broke from my father's to see Ki staring back with a shocked expression, his jaw clenched in concentration. And then as if a pin burst the bubble, smiles and cheers erupted from the rest of the group.

My father was the first across the room, pulling me into his arms. "I can't believe it happened so fast. Your mother will be so excited." He said happily.

He released me and looked at Noah with a proud nod, embracing him in a brief but joyful hug as well. "The pack will be excited to share this news."

Noah tensed and cut his eyes down at me with a look of concern.

"I think it might be better to wait, dad." I said quickly, feeling the same concern of expanding the circle of those who know so quickly.

Dad looked down at me with a look of confusion. "Why on Earth would we do that?"

I exhaled and replied quietly. "Because it's too soon." I said a little too curtly. I tried to reign in my anxiousness and spoke a little smoother as I continued. "I'm only telling you now because Theo said he is worried his father will want to exploit this as a weakness. He knows this makes me vulnerable, and that he can use this against Noah and against the pack if he needs to."
