            "The party will start at six pm. I'll cover for that one." Tumingin ito sa relo. "Five thirty na. In a few minutes we will land at the airport. Didiretso ka na sa Crimson Hotel at ako ay sa venue ng event."

            Tinapunan lang ng tingin ni JM si David habang magkatabi sila sa eroplano at abala ito sa pagpipindot sa teleponong hawak. Napailing pa ito tapos ay napangiti.

            "And I can't join the party?" Taka niya.

            Tinapunan siya ng tingin. "You have a date remember?"

            Napabuga siya ng hangin at napailing.

            "Can you please remind me again why I am agreeing you with this bullshit? At pumayag akong bumiyahe papunta ng Cagayan de Oro para patulan ang trip mo?" Malalim siyang huminga at naalala niya si Jane. Una silang nagkakilala ng babae nang kuhanin ni David ang service nito para sa kanya. And it was David who made them break apart.

            "Because I am telling you this date will change your life." Kumindat pa ito sa kanya.

            "Yeah. The first time you did it, changed my life big time. But where did it get me? I just got my heart broken. Thanks to you." Napailing na lang siya. Sa tuwing maaalala niya ang nangyari sa kanila ni Jane, hindi niya maiwasang hindi makaramdam ng inis sa kaibigan.

            "Dude," dama niya ang pagkapahiya sa boses ni David. Ngumiti ito ng mapakla. "I am so sorry, okay? I know it's my fault. I thought Jane was like those girls that wanted to suck you dry. I am your friend, and I am supposed to take care of you even if you hate it." Napabuga ito ng hangin. "I hope this time, I am doing the right thing."

            Natawa siya dito. "By setting me up on another date? All right. Who is the girl this time? Siyempre hindi naman 'to escort? May phobia na ako sa kanila."

            Napalakas ang tawa ni David at nakita niyang tumingin sa gawi nila ang ibang pasahero ng eroplano.

            "No. She's perfect. Alam mong napakarami ko ng ni-reto sa iyo. But I know this time, this woman will be perfect you. I know you will love her when you see her later."

            "Really? You sound so confident that I will like this girl. Bored lang ako kaya pinapatulan ko 'tong trip mo. Mas gusto ko na nga lang na mag-attend sa event ng Safe Sanctuary." Napaseryoso siya. "I mean, I want to meet those victims. I am sure they will going to remind me of Jane."

            Hindi agad sumagot si David.

            "You really do love her." Napalunok ang kaibigan niya at napailing. "I am really an asshole."

            "Matagal na, gago. Ngayon mo lang na-realize?" Natatawang sabi niya. "Hindi ko nga alam bakit nagtitiyaga ako sa iyo sa kabila ng ginawa mo."

            "That's why I did everything to make it up for you." Nakangiting sagot ng kaibigan.

            "What?" Natatawang tumingin siya kay David. "Fuck you, David. Hindi bagay sa 'yo ang cheesy. Mas mabuti yatang hindi na tayo nagkasundo ulit. I can't believe you're acting like that." Nagkunwa pa siyang nandidiri dito.

            Pero hindi ito ngumiti. Seryoso lang na tumungo.

            "I was an asshole, JM. A bigtime asshole. It should be your personal life, pero nakialam ako. I thought that was my job for being your friend. I thought that woman, Jane will only give you trouble. But I realized, she made you a different person. She made you change for the best. Now I understand why you really love her despite of what happened to her. Despite that she's not perfect. Because her imperfections just made her perfect."
