Between the two boys, it was clear that there were still many unanswered questions.
"Just ask." Renjun said his car beeped, signalling that he had unlocked the doors. "It's going to take a while to get to her place anyways."
"What's your story anyways?" Yangyang asked, deciding that would be the fastest way to get the answers he needed.
"You're smart." Renjun said as he started the engine of his car, beginning to pull out of the parking spot. "Makes my life easier."
It was a compliment but for some reason, Yangyang felt uneasy as he sat in the passenger seat of Renjun's car.
"I'm a street racer but that's not why I work for boss." Renjun told him. "I'm actually an entertainer, a singer. Street racing is just something Winwin taught me because he was bored."
"A singer?" Renjun nodded.
"Boss hires a lot more than just street racers, his family is smart. If you want to dominate the world, you got to be the best in every field, entertainers and racers are just two of them." Renjun told him.
"Anyways, I was just a small Chinese boy trying to get into the K-Pop industry but ended up meeting Winwin in South Korea. He was there after running away from Neo City. His accident caused too big of a scene so boss wanted him to be in the shadows for a bit." Renjun continued.
"So Winwin introduced you to whoever you two are working for now?" Yangyang asked.
"Exactly. So we've been following boss around, but he's a picky man. He doesn't take on anyone, and skills aren't good enough for him. It's more than just your skills, he likes people who can charm others and he also chooses whoever he likes. It really doesn't matter what we think though, I was just lucky that he liked me, otherwise, I would have ended up back on the streets of Korea."
"If he doesn't care about what you think then why are you two even helping him find more racers?" Yangyang pointed out. Renjun chuckled.
"He doesn't care about what we think but he also doesn't want to waste his time. As the saying goes, time is money. If we help him save his time by doing a bit of research on his behalf, he saves a lot. Plus," Renjun glanced at Yangyang as the car stopped for the red light. "If you're not worth our time, you're definitely not worth his."
That's why they were following me.
Renjun pressed onto the accelerator the moment the light turned green, taking Yangyang by surprise. Fast reflexes.
"Ten and Hendery said Winwin's rich. Does that go for you too?" Yangyang asked, making Renjun laugh.
"I would call myself comfortable. I have a lot more than I could ever spend but I also don't do as much as I probably should, following Winwin around. On the other hand, Winwin gege is definitely rich. The bets people made in his races were through the roof. Even though most of what he won went to boss, he still had a big chunk of it. Think about it, he has enough money to help you buy any car that you want, by the way have you thought about it?"
Yangyang had thought about it. He had thought about it a lot.
"I'm not sure if it's worth it, what about college and rent?" Yangyang said. Renjun scoffed.
"If you're able to meet boss tonight, then you won't have to worry about that ever again." Renjun told him.
"What do you mean?" Yangyang asked just as they caught sight of Xia at the end of the street. Renjun smirked.
"Trust me Yangyang, boss already knows who are. The question is, will you know who he is?"
