trigger warning: suicide
Saying that I was stunned to see the parents of my ex boyfriend in the living room of my house was an understatement. What the hell are they even doing here?
"Mr. and Mrs. James," I repeated, now looking intently at the both of them. "What brings you here?"
"Me and Collin wanted to inform you some news about our son." Elizabeth, the mother of he-who-must-not-be-named spoke.
"And what that might be?" I asked with a raised brow, now sitting next to my parents, who where opposite where the couple were.
"We wanted to inform you that Carson is dead." She broke off the news. "I'm so, sorry."
"Why are you saying sorry, Elizabeth?" I asked her. Not that I was being cold but, why is she apologizing?
"Aren't you guys together?" Mr. James, or Collin asked me.
"No." I shook my head rapidly. "It has been four years since our break up. Did he not tell you that?" I asked him.
"But," Elizabeth look lost and confused. "Four years ago, he asked our consent to let the both of you live together. He even called every other day to tell about you and his situation."
"No," I shook my head once again. "Then he was probably calling from jail." I sniggered, making that both of them gasp. "Four years ago, your son tried to kill me. Four years ago, was the worst day of my life. Four years ago, I found out that my boyfriend was cheating on me." Tears were already pooling in my eyes, struggling to flow through my cheeks.
They both sat there, dumbfounded. I mean, what do you expect the reaction from parents who just got the news that their son was almost a murderer.
"So, I'm guessing that you both didn't know?" My mother spoke up after a few minutes of utter silence.
"How could this be?" Elizabeth whispered enough for us to hear. "My son is - was an angel. He would never do nothing of some sort."
"I beg your pardon?" Mom asked her in disbelief. "If you're going to call your son a so called angel, please leave my house immediately."
"I'm so sorry." Collin apologized for her. "It is just shocking that my son could do that."
"Would you mind telling me what happened exactly, dear?" Elizabeth asked me.
"Slightly. But, it is the truth about your son so, I'll tell you guys." I tried to smile, to stop the tears from flowing.
Then, I told them what had happened. From the accident, to me waking up to a hotel room, to me finding out that my boyfriend at that time tried to kill me because of a woman that he was cheating on me with, to finding out that he is going to jail, and to the trauma and PTSD that I suffered after that.
"Olivia, I'm sorry that I didn't know," Elizabeth came to hug me and with that, the tears started flowing.
"It's okay, Elizabeth. You didn't know." I whispered.
After the hug, she then went to tell us how Carson died.
"My son was found last unconscious in his car that was parked in front of our house. When he was rushed to the hospital, he was already DOA, or Dead on Arrival. The autopsy, which was held and given this morning concluded that his cause of death was because of drug overdose. My boy committed suicide." Elizabeth was already crying, the moment she finished the sentence.
