Tommy heard a voice, but he couldn't tell whose it was. He was slipping in and out of consciousness; he tried so hard to stay awake for more than a few seconds, but it felt impossible. He wondered if the voice was real because it didn't sound like Dream's. Had someone found him? Surely he was just hearing things.
Broken, battered and bruised, he hung his head low as he breathed shallow breaths. The rope was still digging into his skin, his body ached in pain. He was awake, and then he wasn't, and then he was. The torturous cycle only seemed to repeat, when all he desperately wanted was for it all to be over.
     "Tommy?"
He hummed. The boy tried again to open his eyes using all the willpower he had inside him, it felt like the most difficult thing in the world.
Dream had left him alone again for what felt like so long, he didn't know how long it had been. He'd come back to hurt him, to break him down piece by piece, and then he'd leave. Tommy didn't know how he was still alive, at this point he wasn't sure if he was lucky he was, or flat out cursed.
     "Tommy!"
Two hands were on the sides of his face, lifting his head up to try and get his attention. A sharp pain ripped through his temple at the sudden movement; the person gasped at the sight of him.
     "Tommy! Son, are you there?"
The boy groaned from the pain, slowly being brought back to reality. He pulled away from the hands, deciding he'd try to fight one last time before he lost his life completely.
"L- leave me alone! YOU'RE A COWARD! JUST KILL ME ALREADY!" he used all his energy to shout, the pain coursing through his body and burning in his veins. He could only lunge himself forward a certain amount because of the persistent restraints. It hurt to move, to open his mouth, even to breathe. "I HATE YOU! JUST DO IT ALREADY!" he spat, saliva and blood flying from his mouth.
"TOMMY!" he leaned back and flinched as he felt the hands were back, but he realized they were... gentle.
"Tommy! Hey- hey, look it's me." Tommy tried to focus again, realizing that this definitely wasn't Dream. He breathed heavily, looking up at the person. They were blurry through his teary eyes.
"Wh- what? I.. please- please, h- help me.." his voice broke when he spoke and his head began to fall again, he was too tired to keep it up. "I.. can't.." He just wanted to sleep.
"Tommy? Tommy you have to stay awake for me okay? We're going to get you out of here." the person lifted his head with his fingers, and Tommy was finally able to look at him.
"Phil...?" he choked out, his mouth was dry as he sighed in relief.
"Yes, you're safe. It will be okay, I promise." he responded.
"It hurts... I- it hurts so bad, I- I can't.." Tommy sobbed, he didn't even know what he was saying because he was half out of it.
"I know. I know." heat radiated off Tommy's cheeks as sweat coated Phil's hands, but he didn't care. He needed to save Tommy, and somehow get him out alive. "Just hang in there for me." he said, trying not to panic as Tommy drifted back asleep.
His face was covered in bruises; both his eyes were black. One nostril had dry blood crusting around it, the other had another trail of it leading all the way down to his chin. His bottom lip was split; cuts littered his face, neck and arms, as well as one above his eyebrow that oozed a trail of blood down the side of his face. Phil felt sick to his stomach when he noticed a few burns on his lower neck. The boy's hair was messy and dirty, Phil didn't even want to imagine the rest of the damage that was probably beneath his clothes.
Tommy realized it wasn't just Phil there, as his arms were cut free from the rope, but Phil's hands were still touching his face. The man wiped a silent tear from his cheek with his thumb; the touch of his soft fingers on his tender skin being the only thing keeping Tommy grounded. He forced himself to take more shallow breaths, wondering how much longer he would be able to keep this up.
His legs were released aswell, so Phil tried to get him up from the chair. He pulled Tommy up, just for him to fall because of his numb legs, along with how weak he was. He began feeling lightheaded again, as the blood began rushing to his head from sitting for so long.
Phil kneeled down to his level, as someone stood behind him. "I don't think- I- I can't do it." Tommy said, feeling tired again.
"No- no, listen. You can. I just need you to stay awake." Phil said, trying to keep his composure.
"Techno, help me." Phil said softly, but Tommy's eyes were fluttering shut again.
     "No, no.."
Someone had snaked their arm around his back, and then under the backs of his knees; but the world was going dark again, and Tommy's body was screaming for sleep.
He heard more voices, their tones urgent but quiet. Tommy's pain was only increasing, and his brain was shutting down in return.
He tried to stay awake but doing the opposite was just so much easier, especially in his state. He blinked his eyes shut once again, giving in, and letting the darkness consume him.
