TW/CW: Suicide, death, suicide note
~
"Dream? Sapnap? What are you guys doing here, the walls are already gone." Fundy asked as he found the two in the main plaza of New L'Manburg.
"Uhh.." Sapnap looked to Dream. He was unsure what kind of expression his face would hold in this moment as it was still covered by a mask like always. Ghostbur was nowhere to be found.
"We need to speak to Tubbo." Dream said in a steady voice.
"I.. think he's working right now, but we can check the White House if you want. Follow me." The half fox, half boy said. He spun around and lead the two older men up a few short staircases and to the newly built White House. It wasn't a far walk, as everything in L'Manburg was relatively close together because of its connecting dark oak bridges, staircases and platforms.
Fundy knocked then opened a door, holding it open for the two men to enter before him. "Tubbo, you have company." Fundy said.
"I just don't understand why you'd want to do that, I-" Tubbo was speaking to Quackity, both of them looking stressed. Tubbo leaned over his desk in frustration looking down at a mess of papers. He had a lot of work to do, and it didn't help that he had just exiled his best friend not even a few days ago. He missed Tommy, even if he knew that it would be good that he wasn't part of L'Manburg anymore.
He wished that Tommy was just kicked out of L'Manburg, not the SMP as a whole. Tubbo wished he had thought about that more and maybe talked more on it with Dream. Though, Tubbo's work was piling up, and he didn't have time to be upset about or question his past actions.
"Tubbo." Dream said, Sapnap to his right as Fundy left the room, shutting the door behind him.
"Dream, I'm sorry but I'm extremely busy at the moment." Tubbo said, trying to go through the mess of papers before him.
"Look, I said that if you just-" Quackity was cut off mid sentence.
"Tubbo, you know I wouldn't waste your time. Its about Tommy." Dream said, beginning to feel pain in his chest. He pushed the foreign feeling away, he was only here to deliver news.
"I don't want to talk about Tommy, Dream. He's the last thing I want to talk about right now." Tubbo said, coming from around his desk and going to leave the White House, but Dream put a hand on the shorter boy's shoulder.
"Wh.." Tubbo stopped at the touch.
"Tubbo." Dream repeated. Tubbo looked at him and Sapnap in confusion.
"What is it?" Quackity asked.
Dream paused for a second, looking down. He removed his hand from Tubbo's shoulder, reaching into his back pocket and pulling something out of it. A piece of paper.
Dream handed Tubbo the folded paper, and he took it with hesitance. He looked over at Quackity, both of them sharing the same confused expressions.
Tubbo unfolded the note, flipping it the right way around so he could read it. It was taped back together, as if it ha been previously torn up.
In messy, dull, quick handwriting it said:
'Tubbo. [something scribbled out] Tubbo. My best friend. It sucks out here, but I dont [more scribbles] I didn't think you'd actually exile me. Thinking more about it now, I understand completely why you did. I was immature, a liability, unfit for the position you offered me. I never should've taken it. I don't blame you, you did what you had to, and I respect you completely.
[more scribbles] Fuck.
I have more to say, but why bother. I probably wont even have the balls to send this out, Im embarrassed. Im an embarrassment, and a burden. I dont deserve [more scribbles]
You were the only one out of this whole damn server that I truly, truly cared for. I was talking to Ranboo. He's a good person, I think that if he had come to the SMP before all of this, you me and him would've been good mates, the three of us.
I dont even know where this is going. I dont know what I'm doing anymore, or what will happen to me. I hope you're okay, and doing well without me. You deserve the best, after all you are the nicest, most kind person I've ever met. After everything, even if I said I didn't want you to be president, I think L'Manburg is in the best hands it can be/has ever been in.
Oh, Bad gave me something yesterday that reminded me of you. It's [more scribbles] It was very nice of him, I think. Hearing it play fills me with hope [more scribbles]
Anyway. Maybe I'll write more of these letters, even if I dont send them out. Talking to Ghostbur is okay, but this is much more therapeutic.
I need to get things done now if this is where I'll be living, so that's all for now. Goodbye.
-TOMMY'Tubbo looked from the paper back up at Dream, Sapnap seemed much more interested in his shoes than anything else at the moment.
"What the hell is this? Why is it all taped back together?" Tubbo asked, almost oblivious.
"I found it in one of Tommy's chests in pieces, I thought you might want it because..." Dream paused.
"Because... What?" Tubbo's voice shook.
"He's gone, Tubbo." Sapnap said finally.
"Where is he? What did you do to him?" Tubbo asked stepping closer to Dream, urgency in his voice.
"We were in the nether the other day with him. We left him alone for a few minutes and he..." Dream's sentences seemed to keep falling away from him before he could finish speaking them. He didn't like Tommy, he didn't know how to feel about this whole situation. He shouldn't care if Tommy was dead, but having to break the news to his best friend gave Dream a feeling that he hated much more than he ever hated Tommy.
"He what? Spit it out!" Tubbo said, tears brimming at his waterlines. It seemed that he already knew what had happened, but couldn't believe it unless someone said it aloud. Quackity was now by Tubbo's side, looking down with a sad expression.
"He jumped off the bridge by the portal, Tubbo." Dream said.
"Dream tried to save him but..." Sapnap said, his tone quiet.
"He... He's.... He's dead?" Tubbo asked, looking away in disbelief.
"I also... found this, I think he would've wanted you to have it." Dream pulled something out of his bag, hanging it to Tubbo. It was flat but round, and was the color of midnight black except for the center part which was red. A disc.
Chirp. Tubbo's favorite disc.
And that was when Tubbo broke.
He sobbed ugly, loud cries that broke through the walls, hyperventilating as Quackity put his arms around the boy trying to somehow calm him.
"LEAVE! GET OUT! GO!" The young boy shouted through heart-wrenching sobs.
Dream and Sapnap turned around to leave, not looking back.
