Kageyama's POV
I quietly descended from the home of all the gods and goddesses back to the moon temple that was built by the humans for me. I've never gotten to see it from the dark, but I knew it was nice.
As I focused on raising the moon, I could hear Tsukishima and Yamaguchi's footsteps on the stone of the temple. Yamaguchi said a hello to me before telling Tsukishima what he wanted for the night in terms of stars.
I simply sat own on the cold of the floor and closed my eyes. I could hear Tsukishima and Yamaguchi talking, well, mostly Yamaguchi. When I opened my eyes, I vaguely saw light. But it wasn't from the moon or the stars. It was right next to me??
"Hi, are you Kageyama???" I heard a voice say, a little too eager sounding. I turned my head, squinting to see what looks like just.. a lot of light, the size of a human. Well, short human.
"...Yes. Who are you?"
"I'm Hinata!" He said happily. I raised my brows, a bit surprised. And confused. What was the god of sun doing out here at night?
"..Hi, Hinata. What're you doing here? Shouldn't you be back home?"
"Yeah, but I wanted to meet you! We've never really gotten to meet each other." He said with a giggle. I blinked a few times, trying to adjust to the amount of light he seemed to be giving off.
Hinata's POV
Kageyama didn't look like I thought. Well, actually no he did. Or did he? I don't know if I really imagined what he'd look like. He had night black hair and his skin was pale, probably from like, no exposure to the sun in over a thousand years. Kageyama quietly turned his head away and looked back up. I looked up as well before humming.
"I've always thought that the moon was really pretty. You do a great job raising it!" I said with a smile, Kageyama nodding. Hm, he was kinda quiet wasn't he. Well, Suga did say he was always quiet. He never really hung around anyone else except for Tsukishima or Yamaguchi when he had to. Maybe he was lonely, I know I'd be lonely.
No one else was really awake at night. Even the gods and goddesses took time to sleep or to rest at night. The only ones who don't take as much time off are Tsukishima, Yamaguchi, Suga, and a few others. But even though they're awake, they're busy. So Kageyama probably never got to talk to them a lot.
"Hey Kageyama?"
"What."
"What's your favorite constellation that Yamaguchi's made??" I asked curiously. Kageyama tilting his head a bit.
"I don't know. I can't see them."
"What??"
"I can't see them." He repeated. I blinked a few times before scooting in front of him and staring at his face.
"You can't see them???"
"No."
"Why not?"
"I'm blind." He said calmly. I widened my eyes in surprise at the information. He was blind?
"Huh? Like, completely completely??"
"No. I can only see different and varying degrees of light."
"So, can you see me?"
"I can see that you're very bright and a vague sense of your outline. But nothing else."
"Can you see the stars?"
"No, they're too dim. I can only see the moon to make sure I've raised it to the proper spot." He explained. Wow, I didn't even know gods or goddesses could be blind.
"Can you fix your blindness?? Like, have you asked the god of healing?"
"Yes I have. There's nothing he can do for me. But, it isn't difficult to live like this. I've been living like this for a thousand or so years now." Kageyama said as I scooted back and sat back down next to him. So he's never even gotten to properly see how amazing his own night was? That's sad... I bet he'd like to see the constellations. There are so many, and Yamaguchi does a great job of arranging them each night.
"Hey, can I take your Hand?"
"Why?"
"Please?" I asked, Kageyama holding his hand up with furrowed brows. I giggled and grabbed his hand and held his palm flat. His hand was a lot bigger than mine, so it'd be perfect to do this.
"What are you doing Hinata???"
"I'm gonna draw and poke your hand in the shapes of the constellations! So you can pick your favorite." I said, looking up at the first one I saw before quietly poking the dots along Kageyama's palm in the shape and pattern of the constellation. I peaked at Kageyama to see his reaction. He seemed content as I continued to gently poke his hands.
"So, which one do you think you like?" I asked curiously, Kageyama tilting his head a little bit.
"I'm not sure. They all seem nice."
"They are!"
"Can you draw the first one again?" He asked, turning his head to look, or, face me. I nodded and poked along his hand again. I ended up staying with him all night, so I was really tired when it was time for me to work. But, I could handle it! Kageyama slowly stood up, tilting his head down to look at me.
"I have to go, but... Thank you for staying with me tonight, Hinata."
"You're welcome! It was fun!"
"I enjoyed the constellations." He said, giving the tiniest of smiles before turning to go back to our homes. I smiled happily, very very glad to have made Kageyama happy. He wasn't so bad. I kinda liked him. He was nicer than some of the other gods I've met.
I turned around when Tsukishima and Yamaguchi walked over. Both of them had left a long time ago after they were one with their jobs so they'd have some time to rest before day.
"Did you get any rest Hinata??"
"Huh? Oh, no I kept Kageyama company all night." I said, Yamaguchi looking a little worried.
"Are you okay? I know we're gods, but, even we need to rest and focus or we can't perform our jobs well. Don't you remember what happened to Narcissus?? He flat out died because he ended up staring at himself in a pond instead of going to the village where he was supposed to go."
"Oh I'm fine! C'mon let's get the day started for everyone!"
