Kageyama's POV
"I don't know if this will work.." I mumbled, holding Hinata's hand as we walked. It was true I have no idea if this would work, but I was more scared of Hinata getting hurt because of me.
"It's worth a try, and I'll be right by your side the whole time!" Hinata said, sounding overly optimistic. I kept quiet, trying to not worry too much, but I still was.. It was night, and we were wandering to try and find this thing. It freaked me out that this thing could talk, and even in only a few days, it seemed to be doing something.
Suga has told me that the animals are scared and keep hiding, even during the day. And I did notice that even with Hinata back, the day wasn't as bright as normal. And the nights seemed even darker. Neither of us were doing this and it happened when that thing appeared. So it had to be doing it. Who knows what else it was doing, or planning to do...
"It feels colder over here." I said quietly, raising my arm in a direction. Hinata nodded and pulled me that way. I could feel him shiver slightly as it got colder. It was spring at the moment, there was no reason for it to be this cold. But when I stood next to that thing, it was freezing.
Suddenly, Hinata stopped. He held my hand tighter, so I knew that something was wrong. That, or we had found it.
"Hinata...?"
"...S-sorry. It's...it's here." He mumbled quietly. I nodded, pulling my hand away from his and walking closer to the shadow demon.
"Kageyama, what're you doing?"
"I just don't want you to get hurt.."
"But Suga and Daichi said that-"
"I know what they said from that, Kenma human. But still.. Stay here for a bit." I mumbled before walking closer to the cold. I could see Hinata's glow dim a bit as the distance increased. I kept facing forward, taking in a deep breath when I stood in front of this thing.
"You've made me a lot stronger already." The creature said in a way that would make any human freeze completely from fear.
"..."
"Are you afraid now? There's no sense in lying to me. I can tell that you are. I can tell you're terrified." It said, sounding like it was smiling, if it even could. I have no idea what this thing looked like, but I was pretty sure I didn't want to know what it looked like based on how scared Hinata seemed to be of it.
I turned my head up, raising my arm and directing the moon's light to shine directly over the creature. It made a low growling noise, and I could heard and feel it move. So it didn't enjoy the light, that's why he's been making both day and night darker. I moved the beam of light again, but the moon's light wasn't strong enough to do anything.
"Oh I see. You're trying to kill me, aren't you. I can't be killed."
"Of course you can. Even gods can be killed."
"I'm not a god. I'm feelings. And feelings can't be destroyed. They only can grow stronger, manifest, burn inside of you." It said, quickly moving again. I turned around to face it, but I couldn't hear it. The cold went away. But it was still here, I could sense that much.
"Kageyama??" I heard Hinata's voice.
"Hinata, go back to where you- wait, don't come closer, where are you??" I said, feeling a bit panicked when I couldn't feel or see his glow. There was a soft thud, so I moved over to where the thud was.
"Hinata? Are you alright? What happened??" I asked quickly, kneeling down to try and feel for him. But I couldn't.
"Kageyama... you shouldn't have brought me here."
"Hinata..!?"
"You couldn't save me. You know you couldn't. You can't, and you never will be able to.."
"Hinata!"
"Why did you let me come with you... you aren't strong enough."
"Hinata, please... where, where are you..!"
"You don't deserve to be a god. But I'm glad you are. You'll live forever. And you'll live forever alone. You deserve it for what you did to me." I heard him say quietly. I tried looking around, for any sign of him but everything was pitch black. I was scared.
"Hinata..!" I cried out when something suddenly pierced through my chest. It felt cold, and my body felt like it was freezing.
"See? There's more than one way to kill a god." I heard before I slumped over. The cold presence left, but my body felt like ice. I laid there quietly, staring at nothing but the dark.
"Kageyama!" I heard, turning my head slightly to see a glow. The glow got brighter until it was right next to me.
"..."
"Kageyama? Kageyama! Oh no, please get up, oh no you're freezing...! I.. I'm so sorry. I tried to get to you, but there was a black barrier.. I-"
"..I'm sorry. I shouldn't have brought you here." I mumbled quietly. Hinata stayed quiet before I felt his hands on my cheeks. His hands were warm. I closed my eyes and turned my head a little to feel more of the warmth.
"I'm the one who's sorry, Kageyama..." Hinata mumbled. I felt a droplet of water land on my cheek before something touched my lips. Hinata gentle kissed me, keeping his lips against mine as he had to lean down to be closer to me.
"Kageyama, I- woah, what's happening?" He said, pulling himself away from me. I opened my eye again, seeing light coming from my chest where something had pierced through my body. My skin no longer felt freezing, and I felt stronger.
I closed my eyes again and sat up slowly. Hinata grabbed my arm and pulled me to my feel slowly. When I opened my eyes, I stared wide-eyed at what was in front of me.
"..I can see you."
"What..???"
"I.. I can see you." I said, slowly reaching out and cupping his cheek. My thumb traced over his lips. His hair was bright and his skin was fair. He was even more beautiful than I had imagined he looked.
"You can see?" He said, smiling awfully bright. I slowly nodded, starting to wonder if I was dead and I was dreaming this.
"Yeah, I-"
"Agh, no no no you're supposed to die!" Hinata and I turned around and saw the shadow looking at us.
...That thing is horrifying. I can't believe I created something so horrific. Something so monstrous... As I stared at it, it's slitted mouth curled up in a smile.
"You're afraid again aren't you? You, you... you, aren't afraid-?" It said with a growl. I looked down at Hinata and held his hand before shaking my head.
"No. I have no reason to be afraid. Or to feel worthless. I have someone who showed me that." I said, Hinata giggling happily. The shadow tried to come closer, but it hid its eyes away from Hinata's glow. And not just Hinata's glow, but a white glow I was emitting in contrast to Hinata's colored one like his hair.
"You can't kill me, it's impossible!"
"Maybe. But we can make sure you don't hurt anyone else." I said, the creature growling at me before disappearing into the black shadows. I looked down at Hinata again who jumped on me and gave me another kiss.
"Kageyama, are you okay?"
"Yeah... Come on. I want to see what the constellations really look like." I said, Hinata nodding and hopping off of me. He still held my hand and walked with me while showing me the way about. Once we reached the temple, I looked at the moon to make it shine back to it's beautiful brightness. That thing couldn't do anything to us, not when we were together. It was right about one thing; feelings couldn't be killed. But they can change.
"Hey, Hinata?"
"Uh huh??"
"I love you."
"I love you too!"
