Story Revolving around Kagehina: Kageyama is the god of night and dark. Hinata is the god of sun and day. They don't belong together, they're polar opposites
Once we returned to the temple, I sat back down. The moon was still high, so it would still be a while before I could go home. Hinata sat next to me, still glowing before he flopped back.
"Hey Kageyama??"
"Hm?"
"How come in all the years we've lived and have been working, we've never gotten to meet?"
"Because we aren't supposed to meet."
"Well, okay yeah true but that's no excuse!" Hinata said, sitting back up.
"Well it's true. You shouldn't be out during the night, and I can't be out during the day."
"You can't?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"I tried to come out during the day once. And it felt like I was going to die. The light was too much and my eyes burned from it all. I was lucky that Asahi found me and got me back home."
"Where were you?"
"Asahi said I had stumbled near Athens. He was there making sure the families and homes were doing well when he saw me."
"Ohhh. Well, I can always stay with you at night!" Hinata said happily. I turned to face him, his glow brightening. Gee, if he doesn't calm down, it'll be just as bad as when I had tried to come out during the day and nearly got injured from the light.
"But you shouldn't. Hasn't anyone told you about the shadows?"
"Yes, but what do I have to worry about if you're with me?? They won't hurt you." Hinata reasoned. I guess he was right, sort of. As long as Hinata stuck by me, the shadow creatures couldn't do too much to him. But if for some reason he was alone, he could be killed. His magic would be useless against them, and I don't need to think for the rest of my life that he died because of me.
"But it's still dangerous."
"I'll be fine! Hey, have you ever gotten to go into Athens around the festival??"
"No, what festival?"
"The one for Athena?"
"Who?"
"Okay well the people call her that. The one for Kiyoko."
"Oh, her. No, I've never gone there for that."
"We should go!"
"Why??"
"Because it'll be something fun for us to do! And we can do it at night. A lot of the others go there to see it too."
"What do they even do?"
"Well a lot of it is offerings to her, but Kiyoko likes to attend and it changes based on her mood."
It sounded interesting enough, I guess. So, I nodded my head. Hinata laughed and said that it was gonna be a lot of fun. Mm, I don't know about that but at least it'd be something different than just sitting here I suppose. And as long as Hinata stayed with me, I guess it'd be okay.
"So. When is the festival?"
"Right now they're still preparing stuff. But it should be in a few days!"
"Okay."
"I bet Kiyoko is excited to see it."
Next Morning: Kiyoko's POV
"Kiyoko?" I turned my head, smiling faintly when Yachi wandered over.
"You doing alright?"
"Yes I'm doing well. I'd quite like to go to the city today."
"The festival isn't for 2 days though?"
"Yes, but that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to go see how preparations are going." I said, Yachi giggling.
"I'll come along then!" She said, leaving Olympus with me and walking to Athens. As we approached, some of the people saw us and fell to their knees to bow. I smiled faintly at them and continued to walk and look about.
"I'll never get used to the people calling you Athena." Yachi mumbled to me as we walked. I smiled faintly and shrugged.
"It's a name I used years ago. Seems it has stayed and when Athens was built, I was still called Athena then."
"Why'd you change it?"
"Because I felt like it." I said, Yachi laughing. While we walked, there were plenty of humans who would stop and stare. Everything seemed to be going very well, not that I would ever harm the people here if the festival and offerings were a bit, lacking.
All I asked of the people was their respect, and as long as that was present, I wouldn't be the one who'd cause any chaos here. Right before Yachi and I were to leave, a woman came up to us.
"Please.. before you both leave, may I present to you both a gift my mother has created for you..? She is ill, and is unable to take it to you herself. I'm unsure if she will even make it to the festival in your honor." The woman pleaded. Yachi looked at me as I smiled gently and nodded.
We followed the woman to her home. It was smaller than the other homes, yet it was nicer and had a finer hearth. I see Asahi has visited.
Yachi and I saw an old woman lying in a bed. She did look very ill. She was surely in the hands of death at this moment, but she would live long enough for us to see her offering.
The younger woman presented to us a painting. And a beautiful one.
"My mother has worked on this for you. She wished to see you receive it." The young woman said. I admired the painting for a moment before walking over to the old woman. She looked up at me as I laid my hand over hers.
"It is beautiful. May you rest easy." I said, the woman smiling weakly. Yachi walked over as well, laying a blossom on the woman's chest. A sign of beauty for the woman in the next life.
Once Yachi and I removed our hands, the woman closed her eyes peacefully. Her daughter held back tears in our presence, so Yachi and I decided to leave so she may mourn. We took the painting and quietly left the home.
"It's always so sad to see when humans die.." Yachi mumbled.
"I know. But it is what happens to all mortals."
"Well, hopefully she's okay now."
"We both gave her our blessings. Her daughter can rest easy in the knowledge that her mother is well now. A blessing from the goddess of war, and a blessing from the goddess of beauty is special." I said, Yachi nodding in agreement before taking a good look at the painting.
"True. This painting truly is beautiful though."
"Well of course it is. It has the goddess of beauty in it." I said, Yachi giggling as a response.
"Oh hush you. I'd give anything to be as strong as you, Ms. goddess of war and strength."
"And I'd give anything to be as beautiful as the you, the one they've called Aphrodite."
