Few Days After the Festival: (Night time) Hinata's POV
I smiled happily as I bounded over to where I could see Kageyama sitting and looking at the moon. He turned his head when he saw me, well, my glow.
"Hi Kageyama!" I said with a smile. I've been staying up at nights to keep him company ever since I met him. And it's really really nice. I wish that he could come stay with me some during the day too, but I know that he can't. But it would get so boring and lonely without him.
And I didn't wanna keep bother Suga and Daichi. Asahi was awake during the day but he'd normally be in Athens helping people. Noya was awake too but he's always traveling around so he isn't here a ton.
"Hi, Hinata." Kageyama said as I sat myself down next to him. I scooted closer to him with a hum.
"Did you see Yamaguchi made a new constellation?"
"No."
"Here! I'll show you!" I said, grabbing his hand. Yamaguchi and Tsukishima already left, but I got to see the new constellation. So, I drew it on Kageyama's hand while he sat there. But he seemed to be thinking of something else.
"Are you okay???" I asked a bit worried, Kageyama turning his head to look back up.
"Yeah, why?"
"I don't know, normally you look like you enjoy when I show you the constellations. Is there something wrong? Are you still tired?? We can change it so the sun starts to rice earlier than usual if you-"
"Hinata, shouldn't you be resting..?"
"Oh come on we've been over this, how many nights have we stayed together?? I don't remember, but I'm fine! Besides, half the time I end up falling asleep on you.." I mumbled with an embarrassed laugh. I guess that's the good thing about Kageyama being unable to see my face is that he can't see what I look like when I'm embarrassed.
"I know. But sleeping out in the cold isn't the same as sleeping in a bed."
"No, but I can't keep you company from home silly."
"Hinata, I think that you should go home."
"Huh? Why?"
"Well, because-"
"If you say it's cause I need to rest I'm gonna shine the sun so bright tomorrow to make sure it goes straight through your windows!" I said with a giggle. I've heard it a million times. But really, I'm just fine! Plus, I liked getting to stay with Kageyama... Sometimes I wondered if I lov-
"Because I don't want you here."
"...What?"
"For a thousand years I've been by myself at nights."
"...I thought you'd like the company..?? It isn't fun being alone."
"Maybe not for you. But, I like the quiet."
"Well, I can be quiet..!"
"And you're too bright."
"Well I can dim it you know.."
"Hinata, I'm serious." Kageyama said, turning his head to face me again.
"Oh. Okay.. I'm sorry."
"You and I were never even meant to meet... So, it's better if it stays that way."
"No, yeah I totally agree..! Well, have a goodnight."
"...Have a goodnight.." Kageyama said quietly. I slowly got up, looking down at him. I quickly turned around and rushed off to go home. I had no idea that I was bothering him.. Well, guess that's the good thing about Kageyama being blind. He can't see what I look like when I cry.
Kageyama's POV
...I feel awful. I want Hinata to stay with me. He's made nights so much more enjoyable. Even when he's asleep. No one else is really awake at night. Or if they are, they're busy. There's probably more gods or goddesses or whatever awake at night than I know. But it isn't like I know them or they would come all the way here just to sit with me.
But even if there was someone else to visit me, I liked Hinata. He was kinda obnoxious but, I liked it. It felt a lot darker without him here... As dumb as it sounds, I hate the dark. I don't find it scary or anything. I just find it lonely..
"Hey, you did what you had to.." I turned my head in the direction the voice came from. I couldn't see who was there, but I heard him.
"It doesn't feel like it, Suga..."
"I know, but you had to." He said, sitting next to me. I could smell both the woods, and animals, on him.
"...It isn't fair."
"Oh, Kageyama... I know. But, you and I, all of us know life isn't fair."
"But you get to be with Daichi..! And Yamaguchi and Tsukishima have each other.. Even Asahi gets to see Noya when he delivers messages about..."
"But all of us, we all are compatible with each other. Forest and nature. Stars and clouds. Letters and homes... They all match. Sun and moon don't." Suga said gently, placing his hand on my shoulder.
"..I guess." I mumbled, Suga giving me a gentle hug before getting up.
"I'm sorry Kageyama.. I really am."
"It isn't your fault.."
"I need to go check on the animals and moonflowers. You'll be okay." Suga said reassuringly before I heard him leave. I sighed, laying back on the stone temple. The moon didn't even seem so bright anymore..
I hope Hinata's okay. I didn't mean to hurt his feelings... Even though I couldn't see his face, I could hear he was upset. Agh..! I feel just awful. I literally made the sun sad..! I just hope he doesn't hate me... Or maybe he should. I don't know. Whatever makes him feel better.
Without him though, I can't really leave here. It was strange, but it was nice to get to go somewhere else besides the top of a temple, and home, top of a temple, and home. Athens was okay to visit. That coastline area Hinata took me to was strange. The sand felt kind of gross and the water was freezing, but it wasn't so bad with him there.
I'd go there again with Hinata. But I can't. He can wander about though. Maybe he'll find someone else he can stay with.. I don't want him being lonely either. Being lonely is, scary. I just hope he made it home safely. It was getting late.
