I couldn't breath.

And this wasn't because I was asthmatic or because someone was crushing my windpipe, no; I couldn't breath because Seth had just asked Trish the million dollar question.

"Will you marry me?"

I watched as he said the words again and seemed to have been catapulted into a dream world. A dream world wherein which things like this happened on the regular.

"Yes" Trish finally whispered, breaking me out of my reverie, "A thousand times"

Seth wasted no time, slipping the ring, which I had the worst view of, onto her finger and pulling her into a hug. He murmured something into her hair and squeezed her tighter.

Back in the hallway, Kyle scratched her head, "Did that just happen?"

"I think it did" Andrew wore a mask of both confusion and something else, but I was far too stunned to ask him what was wrong. At that point I, honestly, didn't care; I wanted to see Trish's ring.

"It's huge!" I shrieked running into the room and breaking their hug up, "Seth, you did good"

The ring was made of a rose gold metal with a gorgeous(ly big) round white diamond smack in it's centre, with two smaller (but still scarily large) pave-set diamonds on either side.

"He got you a Tiffany circlet! " Kyle breathed coming beside me and admiring the jewellery that adorned Trish's finger, "This is like my dream, engagement ring"

"Hear that, Ethan? Now you've gotta return the one you got from the vending machine" Andrew snorted as he and Chandler both hooted with laughter.

The girls and I shushed them with fierce glares, "Would you shut up? We're busy ogling"

"What kind of person uses 'ogle' in a legitimate sentence?" Andrew grunted as I brought my eye closer to the ring.

All the boys, but Seth, rolled their eyes and stood back staring at us with bored looks, "It's really just a piece of diamond"

"And that's why no girl ever bothers to call you back" Sophia snapped giving Chandler a sneer.

"Americans are so rude" He sniffed with an exaggerated sigh, "Whatever happened to; it's not the ring, it's how you feel about the man who gave it to you"

"That's not even a saying" Tyler shrugged, "Get me a ring like this and you could wear a plastic bag for the rest of your life; I don't care"

"People like you aren't allowed to complain about being single" Chandler murmured, "There's a reason for it"

Trish burst out laughing at this and I saw tears fall from her eyes, "I have to call my parents"

You know those moments in your life where you accidentally sit in on an intimate moment and immediately wish you hadn't?

Like all the times you went over to your friends house in high school and their mom started yelling at them for not doing better in school, and then telling your friend to be more like you? Those times were among the worst but what if I told you that there was something even worse?

How about having your recently engaged friend call his mother over skype to tell her the good news and having her burst into full blown, red faced tears? To make things even worse, how about having the other side of that engaged couple call her parents and having them completely hang up on her?
