SOTD: NEVER FAR AWAY BY ACTIVE CHILD (LISTEN PAST THE FIRST MINUTE OR SO TO FULLY FEEL IT)

"Where, in the world, is Seth?" Andrew hissed for the billionth time, pacing the waiting room.

Trish had been in the surgery room for almost three hours and, within those three hours, Chandler, Talia, Elliot, Mr and Mrs Mcguinness, Kyle, Tyler, Sean and Jude had all filtered in.

"Even the hick made it" Sean grunted as Tyler looked for somewhere to sit, "Seth has no excuse now"

"What have I told you about calling people hicks?" Jude hissed giving Sean a look.

Tyler just shrugged, "You're friend is, not only an idiot of epic proportions, but also an overgrown child with maturity issues. At this point, I'll allow him to say anything he wants if it makes him feel better"

"Besides, I hear your old man stole your girl , so your probably speaking from a wounded heart" Tyler whispered low enough so that Sean and Jude were the only ones to hear. I stifled a grimace as Sean gave me a disbelieving look and I shrugged; I had to tell someone about it!

Sean fished for something to say before settling down with the packet of skittles Ethan had gotten dozens of from the vending machine.

"I saw Seth this morning, so I don't understand where he could have run off to" Chandler mumbled from where he stood near Andrew, "It actually makes no sense"

Mrs. Mcguinness pursed her lips from where she stood off to the corner of the waiting room, "It sounds like he got cold feet, like he normally does"

"Mom" Elliot groaned running a hand through his dark brown hair and looking around, "Can we not do this, right now? My baby sister is sitting in a surgery room because the doctors are saying she went into stress induced labour...Maybe all of your bullshit got her there"

"Elliot" Mr. Mcguinness warned just as Mrs. Mcguinness gave her eldest a flabbergasted gasp.

"You've seen it too" Elliot snapped, "Everything from the wedding to the baby room, mom won't let Trish breath. Trish has been consumed with trying to live up to whatever expectations mom has for her and this baby, well before the child even comes and, I'm sorry, but what expectations do you even have to go off of?"

My eyebrows rose as Elliot pushed away from his seat, "Dad practically raised us by himself because you didn't believe in bedtime stories, hugging us when we cried, or actual birthday parties. You've treated Trish like a grown woman before she even hit high school because you've been trying to live through her...You're trying to make Seth out to be a bad guy because you think dads a bad guy and you think Trish is you...this shit is screwed up"

With that, Elliot stomped past the double doors that led to the elevators and the room descended into silence.

What just happened?

"I'll have you all know he doesn't get that temper from me" trish's mother harrumphed turning her nose away from the embarrassing scene.

"Rachel, don't start" Mr. Mcguinness grumbled already out of his seat and probably off to find his son.

As I watched Mr. Mcguinness go, my eyes settled on Andrews and in an awkward alternate universe, he gave me a small nod.

I wasn't sure what the nod meant but I instantly looked away from him and curled against Jude, who had come to sit next to me.

"You okay?" He murmured against my hair, "You look pale"

I rolled my eyes, "your never going to get over the fact that I'm not as tan as you are, will you?"
