Chapter 30: She's Mine.

Tygr POV

I screamed and struggled as I clawed at Smaug's tail. "Let me go!! I'm not a treasure!" I said. He swung me around to look at him. "Oh but you are. To that Oakenshield." He said. I felt tears run down my face from the frustration and fear that I couldn't think. "I don't even know if I actually matter to Thorin! For all I know I'm possibly just a potential filler for his lonely nights!!!" I screamed. Suddenly heard a spine shaking roar. I turned and saw Echo looking absolutely livid as she crawled towards us. "Let. her. GO!!!" She roared. Smaug looked shocked then tightened his grip around me. I gasped slightly at my lack of air. Echo noticed his and roared before tackling Smaug. She was not much smaller than him. I suddenly was let go and thrown. I screamed and was caught in the white wing of my dragon. "GO!" She screamed to me through my mind as she set me down. I sprinted away from the treasure up the stairs only to see Thorin standing there with a heartbroken expression. I suddenly remembered what I had screamed out of fear before. "T-Thorin..." I said quietly. He shook his head and walked away through the tunnel. "Thorin wait!!" I screamed as I ran after him before grabbing his arm and pulling him to look down at me. "I was scared a-and I d-didn't mean any of it! I swear!!" I cried. Tears began to rush down my face. "Are you sure about that. Because you sounded serious." He said. "W-well I don't know." I choked. "Why would you ever think that you would EVER think you where just someone to keep me company on lonely nights?!" He asked. I finally broke. I choked out sobs and covered my face. My ears where flattened and I was trembling. "Because! How on earth do you think that I'm worthy to be with you?! I'm a skin changer- let alone a peasant and your...YOUR A KING!" I cried. Suddenly two strong hands wrapped around my cheeks and pulled me to look at him. Though he said nothing, only pressed his lips to mine and pulled me closer to him. I kissed him back, realizing how passionate he was being. He broke the kiss and looked at me. "I never want to ever head that again. I love you. I care for you. I worry for you. I would give my life for you." He said. I wiped my tears away and looked at him. "I won't be saying any more of it for now." I was shocked but understood. "I'm sorry I said that..." I said. Thorin nodded. "We will talk about it more later. For now we need to go warn the others." He said. I nodded and ran behind him back to the company. I saw bilbo and was immediately thankful that he was alright. I hugged him tightly. "Where's Echo?!" Fili asked. He asked. My eyes widened as we felt the mountain shake. "Echo!" I said worried before I tried to run to her. Kili and Fili however held me around the waist. "No! Echo is strong she can handle it!!!" Kili said. I ten heard Echo screech. "No!!!!!'" I screamed and starting hitting them to let me go. "Please!!!! My best friend is in there!!!" I cried. I growled and formed into a wolf and scratched them before running off. I slid through the halls, my paws having very little traction on the smooth stone. I stopped and stared and awe as the two massive beasts clawed and fought. "How do you call yourself a dragon?! You let a child ride on your back and you defend them and their filthy dwarf friends." Smaug growled. "It's not my fault you will never know the love a human can offer!" Echo yelled as she clawed across his face. "Agh! How dare you you mindless worm!!!" Smaug yelled. "The girl is MINE!" Smaug yelled. Echo gave a screeching roar and for the first time she breathed icy breath freezing Smaug's feet to the ground before jumping and nailing her claws against his throat. "SHE. IS. MINE!" She roared. I watched in awe as both dragons began breathing their fatal breath. Smaug's that of fire and Echo's being some sort of white flame. There flames met and battle, pushing back and forth. My heart grew faster and faster as I watched Smaug's burning flames close in on Echo. Suddenly Smaug pulled his feet out of the ice and pushed her back. I watched as he ran towards her and clawed at her stomach. I heard an ear piercing screech. "ECHO!!!!!" I screamed before suddenly being pulled back. "LET ME GO YOU BASTARD!" I yelled before realizing it was Thorin. "Thorin we need to help her!! I think she's hurt!!!" I said taking a fist ful of Thorin's shirt. "Calm down my love. We will help her." I said. I felt my heart pound as I heard her flying roughly. "Run away!!!!! Flee like a coward!!!!!" I heard Smaug yell. I formed back into wolf and sniffed the air trying to catch her scent however I had a hard time figuring out where she was and how to avoid Smaug.
Suddenly I saw Echo limping quickly away. I formed back into a girl, "echo!!" I said. She looked at me weakly. I looked over her stomach and gasped seeing blood. "Your hurt!" I said looking over the wound. "I-i can heal it...but I need some time." She said. "How much?" I asked. "Longer than the time you all have." She said. "Well...can you fly?" I asked. She nodded. "Okay...then go. We'll take care of Smaug." I said. Echo looked at me concerned. "Tygr...you need to be careful around him. He's strong." She said. I felt tears well up. "Please come back when your better okay? Promise?" I asked. I then saw something I didn't think I ever would...a tear fall on her scaly cheek. "Why are you crying?! Is it the pain?" I asked worried. "You must be so disappointed in me...I failed you." She said, her voice was shaky. "Echo...n-no you didn't fail me! You never could! I mean, I'm alive how is that failing?! You tried your hardest to fight him and you put in your all! Your no failure in my eyes and you never will be." I said pressing my forehead to hers. She said nothing only closed her eyes, it was as though everything around us disappeared. "Now go, get well and come back at your strongest. I love you." I said. "You are mine right...? Would you trade me for another dragon?" She asked. My eyes widened then softened. "I would never trade you for the world...in a silly way we grew up together." I said with a smile. She grinned and nodded before weakly stood and began spreading her powerful wings and flying through the castle and out of a large balcony. I turned and looked at the tunnel that would lead to Smaug. I felt Thorin take my hand, I looked to see the rest of the company behind him. "Now, it's time we teach a dragon a lesson." I said with venom dripping in my tone.
