Jack and Beth were finally dropped back home later that night. They said goodbye to Noah and Andrew as they drove off with Liam's body. Jack didn't say anything and just walked into the house. Beth didn't want to ask him what was wrong because that was obvious. He had every right to be acting this way and she would let him.
Jack had disappeared off upstairs and the house was completely silent. Angelina began to cry in Beth's arms and she assumed she was hungry. She could only hope the men back there weren't completely evil and fed her. Beth sat her in her baby seat in the kitchen as she made her bottle. She hated silence but she was going to put up with it.
Once her bottle was made, she carried her into the living room where it was warmer. Beth put the fire on and began feeding her on the couch. She wanted Jack to come down so they could talk. It wasn't good for him to hold everything in and Beth was his wife, she wouldn't judge him for anything.
"I'm so glad you're okay" Beth said looking down at Angelina "I would have hated myself if anything had happened to you"
Angelina finished her bottle in no time and Beth made sure to burp and change her before she cuddled into her on the couch in front of the fire. She heard a door opening upstairs and the sound of Jack coming downstairs. He put the TV on and sat next to Beth on the couch. He put his arms out for Beth to hand him Angelina, which she did and he hugged her. It was cute for Beth to witness this and she would never get bored of watching him be an amazing father. However, he still hadn't said a word to Beth.
Angelina eventually fell asleep and he went off and put her to bed as Beth flicked through the TV channels. She couldn't focus on anything but the tension in here.
When he returned back from putting Angelina to bed, he went into the kitchen and Beth decided it was time to approach this situation. She got up from her seat and went into the kitchen where he wasn't really doing anything in particular, just pottering about. He was avoiding the conversation about what had just happened but she wouldn't let him bottle up his emotions like that.
"Jack," Beth said but he didn't answer her. He just continued what he was doing which wasn't anything that was necessary.
"Jack i.."
"Don't say anything" Jack said cutting her off
"We can't stay in silence like this" Beth said softly
"I don't want to talk about it" Jack said with his voice cracking slightly.
"Its okay to cry you know, i won't judge you if you do" Beth said
"I don't want to" Jack said turning to her
Beth could see his eyes were welling up and very red. She walked closer to him and hugged him. He didn't say anything but she could feel the tears on her shoulder. He couldn't hold it in any longer and she was here to hold him until he had no more tears left. This was the first time she had seen him properly breakdown like this since they got together and it was a good change. He needed this. Right now was not the time to be Jack the tough guy criminal.
He did cry for a while and they ended up on the kitchen floor. He was cuddling into Beth and he played with her hand on his lap.
"I've never cried so much in my life" Jack sighed
"I bet it felt good though right?" Beth asked
"Yeah it actually did, thank you for making me do that" Jack said
"You're welcome and you have every right to do it, you just lost one of your best friends," Beth said
"He wasn't just a friend for me, he was like another brother and I loved him," Jack said
"Let it out" Beth nodded
"He was just one of the best people I've ever known and now I'll never see him again," Jack said
"Hes a hero, he knew that and so does everyone else" Beth said
"Yeah, he died helping us save our baby, he died a hero" Jack said
"He said that to me in the car, he was happy to die the way he did, helping us" Beth said
"Yeah he said that to me too" Jack said
"You know what i think we should do to honour him?" Beth said
"What?" Jack asked
"Angelina doesn't have a middle name" Beth said
"You would choose his name? Like a girl version?" Jack asked
"Of course, How about Leah? Beth asked making Jack nod "He deserves it and when she asks about her middle name, we can tell her it's after a family hero"
"I love you and thank you" Jack said
"I love you too Jack" Beth smiled
They eventually got off the kitchen floor and made their way to their bedroom where they both got tucked up into bed.
Beth was so glad he had finally cried and talked about everything that had happened. He needed that and she could already see physically he was feeling better. He was of course still sad over everything that had happened but they would get through it together.
