Once Jack had left Beth in the morning to do whatever he had to do, She began to procrastinate. Jack warned Beth that she better go to the doctors today or he would not be happy with her. Technically because it could be something bad, she should go to the doctors and get help but she was scared. She had always been this way, even though she was a qualified nurse, she never enjoyed being on the receiving end of bad news to do with her health.

It had reached the afternoon and Beth still hadn't visited and she was waiting for Arianna to turn up at the house and drag her there. It was like her mind had been read as her phone started ringing and it was Arianna. She was going to get Beth to come down to her office, Beth was such a pushover, she knew she wouldn't be able to resist for long.

"Why aren't you here yet? Your appointment was two hours ago" Arianna said. She knew Beth would do this, she wasn't annoyed at her luckily.

"I'm fine now, I haven't been sick today, there's no need for my appointment anymore," Beth said

"Beth, get down here now, you need to be checked on," Arianna said

"But.."

"No buts, Jack will kill me for not making sure you're okay, excuse the pun," Arianna said humorously at the end

"Jeeze, fine, I'll be there soon" Beth sighed down the phone before hanging up.

Beth wasn't getting out of this one.

Beth got herself ready and into the car before driving off to be told what's wrong with her. There's nothing wrong with her now in her own opinion but she knew Arianna was waiting for her to arrive and it would be rude to keep her waiting.

When Beth got there, she greeted the woman behind the reception who was one of the women at her wedding. This doctor surgery was one for the boys and the rest of the gang so she felt pretty safe there. Beth sat in the waiting room with no one else there. She flipped through the boring out of date magazines before her name was called.

"Hey, Beth" Arianna smiled as she got into her doctor's office "Jack isn't with you?"

"No, he is out with the boys working again," Beth said sitting down on the chair opposite from hers

"Oh so is Noah, do you know where they are?" Arianna asked

"Do we ever know where they go?" Beth smiled

"That is very true" Arianna nodded

"Okay, so you finally got me here," Beth said with slight humour

"It's for your own health," Arianna said "Jack is very worried about you, you know"

"Fine, get on with it" Beth sighed making her laugh

Arianna filled some stuff out on the computer before turning back to her.

"Okay, so tell me when you were first sick?" Arianna asked

"A few days after we got back from our honeymoon, it was horrible," Beth said

"And it continued for how long?" Arianna asked

"Yes, for a couple of weeks actually I kept vomiting at stupid times but I haven't today, I feel absolutely fine now," Beth said

"And you thought it was a bug?" Arianna asked

"Yeah, we ate some weird stuff on our trip, it seems like the most reasonable reason for it" Beth nodded

"Okay, we'll run some tests," Arianna said

Arianna took a urine sample and a blood test and many other tests. Beth sat in the room waiting for her to return with some sort of results. Her mind went back to when she was first sick and then to what actually could be wrong with her. It hit Beth like a tonne of bricks when she realised one of the options. Shit.

Arianna came back into the room with papers in her hand but a straight face so Beth couldn't tell what she was thinking.

"Are you okay? You look like you saw a ghost" Arianna said

"I'm okay, what's up with me?" Beth asked

"Well it's just as I guessed really," Arianna said sitting back on her chair

"What is it? Is it bad? Am I dying?" Beth asked without taking a breath, being overdramatic

"Looks like you have a little Jack on the way, you're four weeks pregnant" Arianna smiled

When her words sunk in, a feeling of sickness rose in Beth's stomach. Not that she didn't ever want to have children but just now? They were just married. What would Jack think of this? Beth thought he was going to hate her.

"Thank you," Beth said "I'll see you later" she added before getting up and leaving

Once she was in the car, she sat there for a minute trying to think of how she could break it to Jack. She prayed that he would be happy and not mad. Although it was not all Beth's fault, it takes two to tango after all.

Beth drove off home trying to focus on driving and not get distracted. Jack wouldn't be home for a few days so she had time to think. She would never get rid of the little life inside her, she was falling in love with it already. It was their baby and although it seemed quick, it was happening and they would have to deal with it.
