Chapter Twenty Two

Once the aftermath of Liam's funeral was finished, Beth hoped that they could all settle down again. She didn't trust herself to say that though because she had said that too many times before and something bad happened. However, everything was slightly calmer and she couldn't complain. Jack had dried up his tears and he was moving on.

It wasn't fully back to normal though. The boys hadn't been out working as much and Jack was definitely hiding something from Beth. She could tell with the way he would be up late nights and not let her know what he was looking up on his computer. His history was completely deleted when she went for a snoop and it was very annoying. Of course she didn't assume anything like cheating because he wouldn't do that to her but whatever it was, she was definitely not allowed to know and that made her even more curious.

Arianna tried to squeeze information out of Noah but he had no idea what she was talking about either. This was something Jack was doing on his own and Beth was determined to find out what he was up to. She didn't like secrets.

It wasn't until one day when she woke up very early in the morning to find he wasn't next to her, that she started worrying about it. If he was up thinking about it this late, it must be bothering and stressing him out.

Beth made her way out of their bedroom to see that Angelina's room door was slightly open. She pushed it open slowly to see Jack standing over her cot and with his head down. She approached him and made him jump when she placed her hand on his back as he didn't know she was there.

"What's on your mind?" Beth asked

He looked at her with a slight concern in his eyes. Something was definitely bothering him and now was the time she would start getting it out of him.

"We need to leave here you know?" Jack said

"You mean the house?" Beth asked

"The country" Jack stated

"What?" Beth asked

"We're never going to be safe here, every time we get into a fight with someone we bother someone else who wants to get rid of me, it's just a vicious circle and i can't have that affecting my family" Jack said

"I get it" Beth nodded

"I can't have something happening to her again" Jack said looking down at their baby "We might not be so lucky next time"

"You're right" Beth said "Where would we go?"

"We'll talk about it later, we should sleep, just know I have it mostly planned out" Jack said

They left the room and went back to bed but it wasn't easy for Beth to fall asleep wondering what he had planned for them.

The next day when Beth woke up, he wasn't there next to her again. It was only nine in the morning so he must have got up very early and left. She decided to do something with her day and go out with Arianna on her day off. Plus, she really needed to fill her in on what Jack told her.

At lunch, Beth decided that's where she would tell her.

"He wants to move to another country?" Arianna asked once she told her

"Yeah" Beth nodded

"Where?" Arianna asked

"I don't know, he said we would talk about it later and he was gone when i woke up this morning, I'm assuming somewhere far away, he really wants to get us away from all of this" Beth explained

"It might be for the best, at least you know that you guys and Angelina will be safe" Arianna said smiling down at the sleeping baby

"I know, it'll just be a big change" Beth said

"You'll be fine" Arianna said "It'll be good for everyone"

Later that day, Beth was hoping that when she got home, Jack would be too so she could find out where he had planned for them to go. Luckily, he was in the living room when she came into the door. He didn't turn to say hello to her and only acknowledged her when she sat next to him. He had lots of information on his laptop screen that made no sense to her so she would wait for him to talk and explain.

"I know exactly where we're going" Jack said

"Really? Where?" Beth asked

"We should go to Australia," Jack said

"That's a long way away" Beth said

"I know, that's the point, me and the guys don't have any bad connections over there and i can confirm our safety" Jack explained

"So we would most likely be really safe?" Beth asked

"Surely, no one would know" Jack said

"Okay, Australia it is" Beth nodded

Jack smiled at Beth and proceeded to show her where they would be going and the house he had set up for them. It would be completely different to what they do here. It was in a neighbourhood in contrast to their homes here which have always been secluded and away from civilisation to ensure some kind of safety.

Australia was so far away and a completely different place from here but who Beth was to argue against the full safety of Jack, herself and their baby. She started to look at it as more of an adventure and it became exciting. A new start.
