After their little scare, Jack never left Beth's side. That wasn't Beth being over dramatic. He skipped some jobs sometimes so he could make sure she was okay and he went almost everywhere with her. Beth was bigger now and almost couldn't see her toes and having him around was helpful when she couldn't do something simple.

They had started to get the nursery organised for the arrival of their little princess and it was coming along great. The walls were a light purple and the furniture was all a pink colour. It was very girly. The boys had been over a few times a week to help Jack set it all up and once it was done, Beth didn't want to leave the place.

On the day of the baby shower that Arianna had so kindly set up, Beth was in the nursery again before everyone had arrived.

"You're in here again?" Jack asked coming in behind her

"I just can't wait" Beth said turning to smile at him

"Me neither" Jack said wrapping his arms around her and settling his hands on her bump

"She's going to be amazing" Beth smiled

"Just like her mummy" Jack said

"Oh the cheesy lines" Beth laughed turning around to face him

"You're beautiful" Jack smiled at her

"Oh yes, I'm beautiful with my swollen ankles and very large belly, oh and the stretch marks will be coming anytime soon" Beth said

"You'll always be the most beautiful women to me baby" Jack said

"I love you" Beth smiled leaning in for a kiss

They were interrupted by a little knock on the door and Arianna's head popped through the door.

"Don't mean to interrupt this lovely moment but people are arriving" Arianna smiled

"We're just coming" Jack said taking her hand

"Well, let's go handsome" Beth smiled as they walked hand in hand out of the room and down to the living room where people had started to fill up and pile their presents onto the table in the middle of the room.

Beth greeted everyone with a smile and they all asked how she was doing and about how excited she was. When they moved onto the presents, Beth was overwhelmed by the amount of things they had got. All very useful things but where she would put it all, she didn't know. She would worry about that later. When everyone was eating and in their own conversations, Beth moved to the kitchen where it was quiet.

She was having a good time but it was overwhelming. It had finally hit her that in two months she would be giving birth to a little girl that she and Jack would have to raise in their own little way. The nerves shot through her body as she thought about the unknown. She was definitely nervous for giving birth due to the very intense pain it would cause but she was also nervous for what was to come afterwards. What if she wasn't a very good mother?

"You're in your own little world there, aren't you?" Arianna said taking her out of her thoughts

"Yeah, I'm just nervous" Beth sighed

"Its normal, you have two months left, the countdown is getting shorter" Arianna said

"I just want it to all work out perfectly" Beth said

"You'll be fine" Arianna reassured

"I'm still scared" Beth said

"Jack will be with you the whole time, just like he has been with the pregnancy" Arianna said

"I know, he's been amazing" Beth smiled

"Why thank you" Jack said appearing in the kitchen with a few plates

"Eavesdropping" Beth said

"No, i just heard the last bit" Jack grinned

Arianna left them in the kitchen where they talked about the birth and Beth's feelings about it. He knew she was scared but he promised he would be there with her, holding her hand to help her get through it.

"You know I might have to go back to working a lot soon" Jack said hesitating a bit

"What?" Beth frowned

"There's this big job that I need to go on soon" Jack said

"You're joking right?" Beth said raising her voice slightly

"Babe, it's something that needs to be done, it'll get rid of a few problems for a while" Jack said

"No, I don't care" Beth said "You can't just leave when I'm so close to giving birth"

"Its only one night and I'll be back in the morning, I'll be there with you at the birth, you know that" Jack said

"And what if you get hurt?" Beth asked

"I won't," Jack said

"Jack, you can't risk this" Beth said

"Well I am" Jack said

"Well you're an asshole" Beth said slamming her hands down and standing up from the seat

"Babe, don't be mad" Jack said

"Too late" Beth said storming out of the kitchen

Noah asked Beth if she was okay as she marched past him in which she replied she was fine. She calmed herself down in the bathroom before she went back to socialising with everyone here for the baby shower.

Beth didn't think she was wrong for being mad. There is every chance he could get hurt as what he does is dangerous. She couldn't have him getting extremely hurt and then she would have to go through the birth alone. He promised he would be with her through this and he had to stick to that. It wasn't selfish, it was logical thinking.

Jack avoided Beth for the rest of the baby shower so he could let her calm down from their little argument. It was when everyone left that they had to talk again. This only led to them arguing again and going to bed facing away from each other. He refused to not go on this job as the boys needed him on it and she refused to be okay with it.
