Chapter Eighteen

Once the door was fully open, it slammed against the wall making the noise echo throughout the place. It seemed completely empty and it was very dark and eerie. Beth looked behind her to the field. It looked so still and empty too but she knew that there were guys set up out there ready to fight for them.

Beth looked over at Jack one more time who was looking at her. He leaned down and kissed her lightly before they moved forward into the building. It was silent except their footsteps, it was like no one was here. Beth was certain that it was a set up and they were coming here or they had gotten the wrong address until she heard the cry of a baby. She got ready to run towards the noise before Jack held her back.

"We need to be careful Beth" Jack said in a hushed tone

"I'm sorry, I know" Beth nodded

He took her hand and they walked up the creaky stairs. Upstairs had a bit more light so they could see properly in front of them. There was room at the end of the hallway where the door was slightly ajar. It seemed like this is where they would go first as it was the only open door. Beth was nervous about what they would face.

Jack was first to push the door open. The room was bright with slight light coming in from the window. At the end of the room was a cot and Beth could see their baby in there. She made a slight whine and Beth went to go pick her up and cuddle her until a man stepped out of a door in the room. He stepped in front of Beth and pushed her back slightly where her hands were caught and held behind her. Jack was in the same position. He didn't have a face of panic but more a face of defeat and Beth hated that.

"It's nice to see you both again" The man in front of them grinned. She recognised him as the man who had taken her baby in the first place.

"You're the man who took our baby" Beth frowned

"Good observation" He nodded

"What is that you want?" Beth asked

"We want Jack dead, it's that simple really" He smiled

"No fucking way" Beth protested

"What a change huh? Didn't Jack kidnap you?" He asked

"How do you know about that?" Beth asked

"Word travels around here" He said

"Well that doesn't matter now, i love him" Beth stated

"Aww you love him, that's beautiful really but just too bad, its him or the baby" He said "You've been very quiet Jack"

Beth looked over at Jack who looked like he had given up. What was wrong with him? They came here to fight not to give up. Unless he knew he would die in this. Beth wouldn't let that happen, he was the love of her life.

"Ill go babe" Jack whispered

"No way, don't say that" Beth mumbled through slight tears that had formed

"I want you to get our baby back, the boys will look after you, you'll be fine" Jack said

"I don't want to be just fine, i want to be happy with you and our baby, together" Beth said

"This is all so romantic but we have to get a move on, I have other things to be doing" The man shrugged.

"I'll co...."

"Kill me instead" Beth said cutting Jack off on whatever he was trying to say

Jack looked at Beth with fear in his eyes but she nodded and looked back at the man.

"Kill me instead" Beth repeated

"No!" Jack shouted

"That could be arranged" The man nodded "It's not a bad idea actually, It will hurt Jack so much to see his wife die, the devastation could be worse than his own death"

The man who was holding Beth back pushed her forward and she fell on her knees. She looked up at the guy who was looking down at her with a grin.

"How should we do this?" He asked himself

"Can i say goodbye to my baby first?" Beth asked

He hesitated slightly but he nodded and Beth moved quickly over to the cot. She picked Angelina up and cuddled into her. It felt good to have her in her arms again and this was also wasting time. The others out there would know some things going on as they were taking too long. They knew if they weren't back out for a certain time they had to move in knowing that they were in trouble.

Beth took their baby to Jack so they could be together. He smiled down at her and tried to get his hands free to hold her but that wasn't happening.

"This is beautiful but time is up" The man said

"Please don't" Jack said trying hard to get out of the man's grip

"Times up for you" They heard a voice behind the door say

Everyone in the room turned to the door where Andrew and Liam were standing. Before any of the men could react, they were shot dead to the ground. Jack let out the biggest sigh and pulled Beth and Angelina into a hug. Everything seemed fine before they heard another gunshot. They both turned to see Liam's body laying on the ground and Andrew shooting someone down the hall.

"We have to get out of here now" Andrew said

Jack and Andrew helped Liam get up before they all began to get out of the place. There were lots of gunshots outside so Beth held Angelina close to her chest. They had to get out there and to the car without getting shot. Now they also had a man down and they had to get him back to the car so Beth could help him. This could either go all right or all wrong.
