"Hey, hey. It's okay, Rory." John attempted to console me as he placed his hand on my knee, squeezing it. "I'll be right here beside you the whole entire time. Alright? Don't worry."
"John, what if it's not okay? My parents hate you with such a goddamn passion and I'm not sure if that will ever fucking change." I replied nervously, while my lover had his left hand on the steering wheel, driving to my old house. "I have a feeling that this isn't going to go down well at all... Shit." I sighed, gazing out the passenger seat window at the world whizzing by.
"Well, hopefully, your parents will change their minds. If we show them how good I treat you, maybe they will open up their hearts. Everyone can clearly see we are perfect for each other." John responded, staring at the road in front of him. "You need to calm down, darling."
"Calm down, John? Calm down?" I questioned with a scoff and a roll to my eyes. "How can I calm the fuck down when my parents don't even remotely like my soulmate?! At all?! I mean, I plan on staying with you forever and if they don't like it, that's on them. Not me. I'm happy and they can support us or get the hell over it."
"That's the spirit!" The Baptist exclaimed as his right hand grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckles. "We are almost there, sweetheart. Don't freak out, Rory."
John averted Fall's End on purpose so we wouldn't get shot at by the resistance and we passed by a couple signs that stated, "Rye and S̶o̶n̶s̶'̶Daughters' Aviation" was close.
"We're nearly a mile away, babygirl."
"...I can read the signs, John."
A couple of minutes later, the Baptist pulled his truck in my parents' driveway.
I sighed, staring at the front door, "Is this a good idea? I feel like I'm gonna puke..." I stated worriedly. "Fucking hell." I cursed as I felt incredibly nauseous; my stomach began to bubble at the sight of my old home. "John..." Hurriedly, I unlocked the doors and hopped out of the truck. Immediately, I hurled in the grass; vomit was coming out of my nose as well and burned my nostrils' lining. I heard John run up to me and pull my hair out of my face; he started to rub my back soothingly.
"Jeez. What did you eat?" John's face contorted after I was done emptying my stomach's contents. "Goddamn..."
"Fuck off, Seed." I retorted, while he handed me a napkin he had in the truck's center console to wipe my mouth and nose. "... I ate chicken noodle soup." After I was done, I put it in my pocket, not knowing what else to do with napkin; it was better than littering. Anyway, John and I walked up the steps to my old home. Quickly, I knocked on the screen door, standing in front of John just in case one of my parents had a gun. The last thing I wanted was a shotgun shoved in my boyfriend's face and my dad pulling the trigger because that's exactly what my father would do if he seen John in front of his home, especially on his doorstep. A few minutes went by and I knocked again to make sure my parents heard it.
"Comin'!" I heard my dad yell as he darted downstairs to come and get the door. Suddenly, the front door opened, revealing my father. In an instant, his smile changed to an unreadable expression, then to a furious look. "You motherfucker."
I responded, "Dad. Open the screen door. And promise not to shoot him. We just came to talk—"
"Get away from that son of a bitch, Rory. He's dangerous." My dad acted as if he didn't hear me, glaring diabolically at the Baptist behind me. "I'm gonna fuckin' kill him. Come inside, sweetie, and I'll take care of him. KIM, GET MY GODDAMN REMINGTON 870 SHOTGUN!"
