—Flashback—
Daddy shook my shoulder, waking me up. "It's time to get up, girl. You got school. It's a beautiful Monday mornin'."
Sleepily, I opened my eyes and rubbed them; my eyesight was hazy at first, but my eyes eventually adjusted to my surroundings. "Five more minutes please. I want more sleep."
"Sorry. No can do, honey." Dad answered as he lifted me up from my warm, cozy bed and began tickling me.
I started laughing uncontrollably as dad tickled my sides. "Stop, daddy."
"If you say so." He smiled down at me and placed me on my feet. "Go get ready." He booped me on the nose before he quickly darted to the bathroom. "I gotta take a shit."
Giggling, I began getting ready for school; I put on a pair of black skinny jeans and a nice, blue blouse. Placing some pearl earrings in, I made my way to the bathroom in my room and brushed my teeth. Once I was done, I combed my hair. After a few minutes, I was ready to go and headed downstairs. I was in front of the front door as I put my shoes on, waiting patiently for mom.
Suddenly, she came into view, kneeling down and started tying my shoes for me because I haven't learned yet. My shoes were pink and sparkly and I loved them; I begged for them for ages and she finally got them for me. After she was done, she smiled up at me with a huge smile.
"You look so beautiful, Aurora." Mommy complimented me. "Your father and you look so identical."
"But momma, I don't want to look like a man." I pouted.
She chuckled at my response as she kissed my forehead. "We're gonna have to teach you how to tie your shoes sometime. Oh, and make sure you eat breakfast and lunch at school. You don't want to go hungry all day. I'll make you your favorite, lasagna, for dinner when you come home!"
Dad walked downstairs and asked, "You ready for your first day of kindergarten, kiddo? The bus is already here." He ruffled my hair, messing up my pigtails a tad. "Hope you have a good day, Aurora."
"Daddyyyyy, you're going to make my hair look bad for school." I made a face at him as mom quickly tried to do my pigtails.
"Nick." Mom warned her husband as she finished up on my hair. "Now, sweetheart. You have your backpack. Check. Your lunchbox. Check. Crayons, pencils, paper, your folder, your toolbox. Check. You're ready for school! I love you. Go. Your bus driver is waiting for you."
"Bye! Love you mommy and daddy!" I smiled at my parents as I dashed towards the bus.
"Love you too, honey!" Dad yelled.
I climbed up the bus's steps and greeted the bus driver, "Hello sir."
"Hi. What's your name little girl?" The bus driver questioned. "My name is Jerry."
Jerry had long, dark hair along with a mustache and beard; he was very nice as well. He had gentle eyes and his voice was soothing.
"Aurora." I responded, a small smile on my face as I walked up the aisle, searching for a spot to sit.
There were many seats filled, so the first one that was open, I sat there. A boy was sitting at the window seat while I had the aisle seat.
"Hi. My name is Aurora." I introduced myself to the boy beside of me. "What's your name?"
The boy craned his neck to look at me; his deep emerald green eyes gazing hard at me. He then started laughing, his eyes crinkling in the process, while he accidentally spit on my arm.
"What is so funny?" I questioned, my incredulous eyes looking up at him as I wiped his spit off of my forearm. How gross...
"Your name." His laugh was hysterical. "It's so stupid. Probably the stupidest name I've ever heard of in my entire life."
Tears welled up in my eyes. My heart literally shattered right there. Before any tears had the chance to cascade down my cheeks, I hurriedly found an empty seat at the main back of the bus. Sitting alone and staring out the window, I finally let the tears fall.
—End Of Flashback—
"Rory, I scoped the place out. There's about uh— twenty Peggies here in total. I think we can take 'em out easy." Corey had his binoculars out. He then placed them in his bag and pulled out his silenced AR-C with a nice scope on it. "We take them out, one by fucking one. Got it? Stick close to me. I'll cover you while you disable the alarms."
"Sure." I replied, unholstering my handgun. "Let's do this shit."
We were in the tall grass, so we weren't able to be seen. I knew that we had to do this stealthily because if we didn't, they'd call in reinforcements and we'd be shot on sight. Maybe not me though... However, I didn't want to take that chance. Anyway, I made sure that no one was looking before I knocked the Peggie out that was working on his car and dragged him in the tall grass. One cultist down. About a dozen more to go...
