"Ray, are you done?" My mom joins while I am struggling with shoving my books into the already stuffed suitcase. She approaches me to help. "Honey, you get ready. I'll do it for you." She stands there, seeing me struggling.
"No, mom, it's fine. I'm just... done," I say with gritted teeth as I stuff the books. "Done," I wearily sigh and stand up in front of my mother. She grins at me and instantly hands me the towel motioning me to get ready.
"I'll be down," I nod and rush into the bathroom to take a swift yet, perfect tidy shower. The cold water hit my fatigued and warm body because I had just completed packing for my university life. I am now an alumna for the most prestigious university, SNU. I have never been this excited in my life, my life was going on the way I fancied, and I was in love with it... Maybe too much in love with my life.
I have everything I fancy, loving and encouraging parents, dependable friends, a lovely pet as well. The only thing that my life lacks is the experience of love. I have never been in love in my life. Even if I had boyfriends and dated during my schooling year. I haven't found much of that experience that love has. Though I love my parents and friends, I still never found "the one."
As I was in my intense thoughts about life, I forgot my parents were waiting for me. I instantly turn off the shower and step out to wipe the water droplets on my body, which were trickling down my body. "Ray?"
"Five minutes," I reply as soon as I hear my mother calling me. It was supposed to be a quick shower, but it prolonged the time of a quick shower, like always. I change from the towel into black ripped skinny jeans with a grey sweater loosened t-shirt. I hastily apply the foundation and lightly put up nude makeup.
My luggage is already out by the time I walk into my room. I quickly took my black-dusky backpack out with me and shuffled downstairs to see my parents expecting me for breakfast. "I'm ready."
"Oh, my beautiful daughter," My dad coos with affection. He has always pampered me since I was a little girl. He loves me because he always wanted a daughter and nothing else in his life. I walk to him.
"Morning, dad," I kiss his right cheek and perch beside him. "I'm so thrilled about today," I screech in excitement.
"We can sense it," My mom softly chuckles and places her famous dish in the house in front of me. I quickly seize the fork and dig in immediately. "How is it?"
"I'm certainly gonna miss this at least," I pout and lunge back, showing my grief. My dad laughs and softly rub the back of my head. His hand travels down my wavy hair and wrap around me firmly.
"I'll miss you, honey," I could feel my heart weakening. I never left my parents, but now I will be living in a different city. I hug him back with a pout.
"Me too, dad. Mom too," I notice her smiling while observing us, so I mention her as well. "Okay, let's go now, or else we'll be late for the train," I inform and stand up with my dad. Mom takes the dishes and puts them in the dishwasher. We step out of the house to the van, waiting for us completely loaded with my stuff.
To my surprise, all of my friends are standing in front of my house carrying a board saying -
"You're amazing, Ray <3.
Congratulations on entering Seoul National University. We all are proud of you <3."I am in awe while reading it. "You guys are wicked. I don't want to leave because of y'all." I say while embracing each one, one by one.
"We will miss you, Ray," Hyunjae, childhood best friend, says with stroking my head. I pout at them while I stand there speechless and nearly weep. "All the best, love," They scream and engulf me in a group hug. I seriously have the best people in my life. I love my life.
