Riley was drained from the Events that had took place earlier on in the day her and Nate were done and she couldn't have felt more shit she just wanted to go to sleep so she could forget everything
The next morning Riley awoke to loud voices she walked downstairs to find Nate and Marsha standing by the front door talking to a random man
"No I'm not letting you see her not until you tell me why?" Nate stated protectively to the man standing outside
"Please I just need to talk to her it's important" the man replied with desperation in his voice
Riley approached them all
"What's going on?"Riley asked confused
They all turned to look at her
"go back upstairs for a minute please sweetheart" Marsha said softly
Riley looked completely baffled
"No not until you tell me what's going on?" Riley demanded
"It's nothing Ri just some random weirdo turning up to our house asking for you" Nate said to her
Riley turned to look at the man
"Who are you?" Riley asked confused
"My names Mason I'm your brother"
Riley was shocked at his confession she didn't know what to do with herself
"That can't be true I was the only child" Riley stated
Marsha and Nate looked just as shocked as Riley they were extremely protective over Riley the last thing they wanted was someone telling her lies and pretending to be someone they weren't she had been hurt enough.
"I think it's best if you leave Riley doesn't need some idiot coming to her home telling her bullshit lies" Nate spat irritatedly
Marsha looked at Nate annoyed
"Nate don't be rude" Marsha stated
Nate rolled his eyes at her
"Look I promise I'm not lying I wouldn't lie about something like this I didn't even know you existed until the other day my mum told me the truth about who my real dad was she had kept it from me all these years it was a one night stand and a few years later she met my step dad he raised me as his own when I found out where my biological dad lived i knew I had to go and see him I found him through Facebook we got messaging and he agreed to see me he knew straight away when he saw me that I was his we look so much alike he told me about the person he used to be and what he did to you and your mum I felt sick to my stomach I couldn't even look at him he told me you got adopted by Cal and Marsha Jacobs so I did some researching I found Cals construction company's address when I got into town I asked around to see where you lived I know it's a big shock but all I want is to get to know you and build a relationship with you you've been through a lot and I'm not here to make it worse I just want to make it better"
Riley couldn't believe what she was hearing she had a brother that she didn't even know about until this morning she was mainly shocked but a part of her also felt intrigued she knew her mum would want her to build up a relationship with her brother that she had just found out about he was the only biological family she had left other than her dad.
"Sorry I just need a second to get my head around this I'll be back in a sec" Riley said as she rushed of upstairs
Nate followed after her as Marsha welcomed Mason into the house
Riley sat on her bed Nate walked into her room he came and sat beside her
"Riley listen to me I really don't want you to get hurt do you not think you've been through enough he might just be full of shit" Nate said honestly
Riley turned to look at him
"Nate I appreciate your concern but I honestly think he's telling the truth I always trust my gut feeling and it feels right like come on who would lie about something like that and how would he know about me and my past it all makes sense he is my brother and I've got a chance at building a relationship with him id be stupid to turn him away" Riley admitted
Nate looked at her sympathetically
"I know Ri I'm just protective of you that's all I just don't want you to put all your trust and effort into your brother for him to then let you down and disappoint you" Nate said softly
Riley smiled at Nate
"I'll be fine you don't need to worry about me I wouldn't be willing to get to know him if I had a bad feeling about it but I don't I need to do this Nate my mums dead my dad is an abusive cunt Mason is the only biological family I have left" Riley said
Nate gave Riley a look of approval followed by a warm smile he knew that Riley was a good judge of character and she was more than capable of making her own decisions but that wouldn't stop him from worrying about her
"I think I'm ready to go and speak to him" Riley said nervously
Nate smiled at her
"I'll be with you every step of you way Ri" Nate said as he squeezed her hand gently
In that moment Riley couldn't help but stare into nates eyes and intern he couldn't take his of hers they both started to lean in towards each other
Before anything could escalate Riley cut the moment short by standing up she walked towards the door as Nate remained sat on her bed
"Right I'm gonna go down you coming?" she asked like nothing had happened
Nate felt his heart sink he just couldn't get Riley out of his head
"Yeah ill be down in a minute" Nate said
Riley smiled at him slightly before leaving her room she made her way down the stairs
Nate knew getting over Riley would be a lot harder than he thought he just couldn't imagine seeing her with anyone else he knew no one would ever be good enough for his Riley nobody knows her the way he does most people Nate met in his life just made him feel ordinary but not Riley she made him feel special he loved every single thing about her he craved her company Like a drug he had became addicted to her Nate had realised Riley was the only thing he had ever wanted and not having her anymore was killing him.
I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter I really liked the idea of Riley having a brother she didn't know about I think it makes the book a bit more interesting we will get to see how her relationship with her brother unfolds and what's going to happen with her and Nate thankyou for all the support you guys have given me I really do love writing this book and I love hearing feedback from you all!❤️
