•DANS POV•
Song recommendation: Skinny Love by Bon Iver

Only a few days later we were in our new room. Phil was talking non stop about how he was going to paint the walls and I was going to love it. I would nod and agree and ask him a question here and there but my mind was elsewhere.

Elsewhere. A little corner of the universe that was all mine. It was blue and full of sadness. I'm the happiest person there. I bend the rules and everyone is bursting with life. Flowers bloom around me and light shines through cracks in my dreams. The floors hiss when reality hits them. The people in my dreams dance. They dance as if they were pulled by strings. They dance to music only they can hear.

My elsewhere is interrupted by Phil. "DAAAN!" He yells in my face. I reluctantly come back from my corner in the universe. I am glad to find that I am pulled out of my blissful wonderland by Phil. The beautiful Phil. "I asked if you would tell me a story!" He exclaimed. "Yeah okay." I agree.

We made our way into my room. I sat down on the white bed with white blankets and a white duvet. I pulled the blanket into my lap and curled up on the bed. Right then I would change nothing about the world. Nothing. Everything was perfect.

"The story of getting better." I started off. "At a young age I began to realize the world wasn't as beautiful as I wanted it to be. It was dreary and cold and full of sadness. The world was a damp gray color. The people in it were cornflakes that had been in the milk to long. Their actions blended together and mixed with others. Nothing was original. Until I met this boy. He was strikingly beautiful and I couldn't take my eyes off of him. He gave me hope and peace. I hadn't heard my voices in days. Days turned into weeks and weeks turned into months. Until I began to think I had made them up.

Then the boy left. He left without reason or warning. I had to face the hard truth that everyone will leave you at some point, sometimes with out saying goodbye." I closed my eyes and left my stories seek out of me.

"These words that I am speaking are mine. I get to keep them and you get to hear them. Nothing more, nothing less. These are my words, I have spoken them and they are mine and no one can take them from me. That is the only thing I have left of me that people can't take from me. My words." I stopped to see what Phil was doing. His brush was on the floor and his body was next to mine.

"They can never take me away." He whispered. He said enveloped me in a hug. I only sat there, unsure what to do. He let me go and stood up to face the wall again. I looked at the wall for the first time and I felt myself gasp. It was one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen.

Phil had scrawled serendipity a crossed the main wall. Around it colors danced. Blues, greens and yellows. Flowers sprouted from my floor boards. People posed as if they were leaping and dancing were scattered around my room. The only thing out of place was that the people were gray. The lines holding them together were dripping as if they were falling apart.

"Phil!" I breathed. "This is beautiful!" He smiled sadly at me and I began to wonder why he seemed so sad all the time. He mumbled a thanks and picked up his paints. "I'm going to do my room now. You can move in or something." He said and then he was gone.

I picked up the bag I was given to move my clothes and possessions. I opened the drawer to my left and stuffed all of my black jeans inside. The second drawer was for shirts, mostly black. And the last two were for boxers, socks, and pajamas.

I shoved the drawers closed and went back to digging in the bag. I took out my stuffed bear my little sister had given me.

•FLASHBACK•

"Dan? When will you be back?" Ellie asked. "Soon." I promised. "Really?" She asked. Her brown eyes sparkled with wonder. "Yes you turnip now I've got to go, it's like vacation. I'm going and I'm taking a break. It'll make me happier and healthier. Okay?" "Okay." She agreed.

I grabbed my backpack and threw my gameboy into the bag. "Dan?" Ellie said. "Yes?" I replied, still throwing stuff in my bag. "Will you take belle with you?" She asked. I turned to face her. She handed me a little silver bear with a heart attached to its paws. "Do you want me too?" I asked. She nodded. "Okay then." I said placing it gently in my bag.

She hummed and slipped her little hand in mine. "To vacation!" She cried, dragging me out to the car.

•END FLASHBACK•

Tears welled up in my eyes. I placed the silver bear on my dresser. I blinked the tears out of my eyes and placed the rest of my trinkets on the drawer. I felt the bottom of the bag and realized that I had nothing left to put away.

"DAN HOWELL TO DOCTOR CONNORS ROOM PLEASE."

I flinched at the loud noise but made my way to the living room. "Bye phil! See you in a bit!" I called.
